thanks bro... I figured since everyone thinks that my asymmetrical ships should be Breen, that maybe I should just draw a Breen vessel. So here you go.NIce one, I like the details and the colouring.![]()
First off, thank you. I was never a fan of the layered pancake-like version of the Breen ship we had gotten. From the top view she is fine, but the bow/stern views, are not my thing. Maybe if the ship was much larger, but as she is... Dunno. Then again, that is my own bias, as I like ships with a lot of body... or at the very least, exploring the "Y" axis a bit more. Space doesn't care about streamlining (but maybe warp does?). lol This is why this ship is thicker overall than the original, and it also explores that "Y" axis a lot more.Clearly Breen. But not just another variation of what we saw before. This horizontal structure on the right side really helps with the flatnis of breen ships. And also adds this nice shadow. I would want to see this on screen or in a video game. Would be nice to have a 3d model...just to explore the shapes in different angles. Very interesting.
I have to ask this since the shapes of your ships seem to become more complicated but are still perspectively accurate. Are you using a 3d programm (not for the final artwork obviously but in an early phase of production)? I would like to see the process of making these artworks. Because I find it very difficult not to screw up the perspective, what is why I switched to Blender in the first place.
This kinda reminds me of a Breen/Cardassian/Son'a hybrid.
Thanks. I am not sure about the Cardassians, but with the curves rather than the harder lines, I can see a bit of sona...kinda. I think Kaiser said that the starboard arm evoked the sona aesthetic. I do not see it as I never just look at details but the whole. So a Sona ship to me is a series of S curves with grand piano wiring like details, while a cardassian ship is generally an inverted klingon ship w/o all the armour. This kinda reminds me of a Breen/Cardassian/Son'a hybrid.
I was thinking more of the station Terok Nor rather than their ships.Thanks. I am not sure about the Cardassians, but with the curves rather than the harder lines, I can see a bit of sona...kinda. That I do not see. But if you do, that's kewlI was thinking more of the station Terok Nor rather than their ships.
ThanksAnother great one, and asymetrical.![]()
The vertical elements look like the defense sails on DS9, but it doesn't actually look Cardassian in detail nor as a whole. I would believe this as Breen without any trouble. Is the box the deflector, or a weapon?
Thanks. And which "box"... I ask as there are two structures that are box-like. The box in the main hull section, above and back from the bridge is the deflector...the other box to the right is actually a bussard collector and where main engineering is located. The vertical elements look like the defense sails on DS9, but it doesn't actually look Cardassian in detail nor as a whole.
