The two years following the death of Elizabeth Keen, Raymond Reddington (James Spader) and the members of the FBI Task Force have disbanded – their lives now changed in unexpected ways and with Reddington’s whereabouts unknown. And with that official synopsis from NBC, we are on our way to the Season 9 premier of The Blacklist on Thursday, October 21 at 8:00 P.M., EST. The time-jump forward is a bit of a surprise, but I guess that gets around doing another funeral for Keen. It also indicates that Red's condition may not be as dire as we had led to believe. We'll see.

As horrible as this sounds, I'm actually looking forward to a season that doesn't revolve around Liz and her constantly changing moods. With a new set of dynamics in play, it may breath some life back into this show.
 
Someone in another thread had suggested a big Fringe like time jump where Agnes would be an adult on the task force. Idk how they would’ve made that work with everyone

While the idea itself is rather bold, I have to agree with you that I'm not all sure how they'd be able to make it work. For starters, we're probably looking at two decades hence; most of the Task Force would likely be retired, and possibly some of them deceased. Almost certainly by this time, Red himself would've probably had a visit from the Grim Reaper. Not to mention the inherent problems with trying to realize a believable extension of our world in say, 2041 or 2042. Think of the changes between 2001 and 2021.

I'm most interested in seeing how they're going to fill in the narrative gap of the last two years.

I wonder why Red is bald. Is it because he went through with that treatment to save his life? Will they even answer that?

I sincerely hope so, since the implication was that his time was rather limited when Liz got gunned down. So if he's managed to have survived two more years, then yeah, they need to address the issue of the illness.

Turns out being around Elizabeth all the time was sucking the life out of him, so he's fine now.

In future episodes we'll find out that Marvin Gerard is the director of NASA and Huey Lewis is the Secretary of Defense.

Also, this show has completely scrubbed Tom's side of the family from existence.

Yeah, I commented on that to my wife while we were watching, that they are completely ignoring the fact that Agnes has grandparents who are still alive (not counting Redarina). While Cooper is probably a better choice of a guardian for little Aggie, it still seems strange that Tom's parents aren't even mentioned (though didn't Scottie end up going to jail or something? Or am I mis-remembering?)
 
They brought Scottie back for one episode after Tom died and she mentioned how he helped take Howard Hargrave down. She had also been taking care of Agnes while Elizabeth was away. That was the last time you saw her.
 
If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire The Post Office.
 
Actually, that was a pretty good episode. Best in a very long time. I hope this is sample of the way the rest of the season will go.
