The Blacklist - Season 3 Discussion Thread

It was an interesting story but too padded out. Of course, a subplot would have ruined the unsettling otherworldly tone.

Interesting tidbit: Sasha was played by Lotte Verbeek, who also played Mrs. Jarvis on "Agent Carter."

I thought she looked very familiar, but couldn't place her at first. Yeah, I too pretty much decided early on that this was all in Red's mind; my only mistake was thinking that he was still in the opium den while it was happening.

I enjoyed it, due to Spader's strong performance and the fact that it still doesn't contradict my own theory regarding their relationship.

While it was nice to get conformation of a few facts (Red had to choose who to save)...

At first I thought he was talking about having to choose between Liz and her baby, but now I believe he was actually talking about Liz and her mom. He said that after the choice he did everything he could to try and make the baby's life better, but he just kept hurting her. So, I did appreciate this new information that Red did love Liz's mom and had to choose to save her or Liz. It's stuff we could have guessed before, but nice to have him actually say it.

Am I the only one who watched this past Thursday? Some great scenes for Aram, who is without a doubt the second best thing on the show, after Spader. The question becomes, is Tom right about Famke Janssen's character, or is she someone else? Either way, I think it's a sure bet she's the one who got Solomon sprung.

Yep, she's to become the "new" Red in the spinoff. Soooo not interested at this point.

And YAY for Aram! Glad to see he's finally getting the screen time he deserves. He's such a good character and very deftly portrayed by Amir Arison. I actually LIKE this character; I care about him. I can't say that about many on this show.

At least Ressler being a dick didn't bother me as much this time. I kinda enjoyed his chewing out the guy who was emptying out Liz's office.

Procutus: "my only mistake was thinking that he was still in the opium den while it was happening."
I thought the exact same thing.
I am also convinced Liz is still with us. Closed casket funeral being yet another indication. I'm still not 100% sure Tom isn't in on it somehow.... he just didn't seem very broken up at the service.

I don't know who knows what, but I'd think in this world they're in, at a closed casket funeral, someone would open it up just to check (most likely Red).

Yeah, this is pretty much the biggest clue. Cooper was more upset than Tom.

Exactly. Red's not afraid of seeing a body; he usually REQUIRES it. However, since the script calls for it, he doesn't check the casket. BAH and HUMBUG.

I actually thought this past episode was one of the best. In fact I think it had more of the intended impact then the episode before it, they could have replaced that episode with this one and it would be more effective.

The thing with Red is that he's not thinking clearly because he is so devastated. It's effecting his judgement to the point where he's even hallucinating. He's completely withdrawn from everything, convinced he's lost Liz forever. He couldn't even bring himself to attend the funeral let alone check the casket. He entrusted all of that to Mr. Kaplan (who did attend the funeral), who I think has betrayed him in this case. He's feeling so low he's staying with the grandfather (who makes no secret about despising Red) - hiding from the world.
Glad to see Aram came and rattled his cage, though.

Yeah, I don't think that Red is going to be too happy with Kaplan whenever he learns of her deception in this matter. I'm still not totally convinced that Tom is in on it, but it certainly is possible.

OK, so obviously Jean Grey isn't Mama Rostova after all, but I greatly suspect that she was hired by her. And I've got to admit, that I'm beginning to lean more towards the idea that Liz is still alive... Somewhere. Though this is terrible to say, the show has been far more interesting since she's been gone.

^Pretty much my sentiments, as well. I guessed right away regarding the plot device, so it was not terribly interesting to watch. Most annoying of all is that we still didn't learn much at all.

This episode was just on here last night and I was thinking that I knew the actress all the way through the episode. It was just near the end when it finally clicked.

With us now three episodes away since Agent Keen's death and to be honest, not really missing her. Which is sad but the show actually flows better. However and a big however, I keep getting a Much Ado About Nothing vibe from the show. One Elizabeth had to died, so another Elizabeth could live.

Red was barely in this episode. I found myself barely able to pay attention. I think there was some kind of heist.
