The Better Actor #04

Hmmmm...Dukat looks like he is going to take down Q in the last battle. Both Alaimo and De Lancy are great at what they do, it was a tough choice to be sure....

Now its time for Battle #04...and it may be a doozy!!! And I don't mean OVER ALL best actor...best actor when considering STAR TREK as a source only...no cheating!!!

Willam Shatner (aka Captain Kirk) vs Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard)

There is no need for introductons. We all know these two stellar icons in the TREK universe. So...let the battle begin!!! (You must base your choice on STAR TREK performances only...no outside performance is allowed)

Willam Shatner as Kirk. Action-Hero Picard really ruined Patrick Stewart for me.

These threads would be great with polls.

Although Stewart is a fellow countryman, I'd have to go with Shatner as he had a chemistry which mixed well with the other actors. So he rocks!

Definitely Shatner. He showed a wide range of emotions and a lot of physical prowess.

All Stewart ever did was stand around, and occassionally change his voice from "normal mode" to "yelling mode"; and that's about the full extent of range the Picard character ever had.

No, Shatner showed a wide range of ham and cheese. My left foot is a better actor.

Patrick Stewart by a thousand "Make it sos."

Stewart is one of the best actors Trek has ever had, but in this particular battle, I'll vote for William Shatner.

 How's the weather in that tiny little personal world you live in, cut off from reality?

The superhero comment about Stewart is valid, but I will trump that with the insurance comercial by Shatner.

I'll pick Patrick Stewart by a narrow margin.

Oh my, thats hard. I mean, they're both in my avatar, no?

I'll do the impossible, and call for a tie. I just don't wanna decide.

Well, this is wierd. I think Patrick Stewart is a great dramatic actor (I know he has a great sense of humor, but that never came across with Picard).

Shatner just did a better job of playing passion, drama and humor.
So, I'm with Shatner.

I believe the key to answering the this inquiry is in a careful reading of the question...

Willam Shatner (aka Captain Kirk) vs Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard)

While working on my M.F.A. in Theatre Arts @ Cal-State Fullerton ('86/'87),
I had the opportunity to study with Patrick Stewart... at the time,
he was a member of a troup of actors from the Royal Shakespeare Company
who were invited to the department to teach the M.F.A. students.
Voice & Movement, and Scene Study were the classes we took... and it was GREAT!

Stewart is a brilliant actor and he makes a darn fine Captain Picard,
but considering the range of passion and humor displayed in William Shatner's
performances as Captain Kirk ---------------- my vote has to go to Bill. :techman:
I think he was able to do more with the role.

Please refrain from annoying remarks - it can mess up threads.
