The best TV villain of 2011

Who you consider to be the best TV villain of 2011?

My pick is Gus Fringe of Breaking Bad. Those soulless eyes .

Gus Fring, without a doubt.

Prince Joffrey from Game Of Thrones and Manny Horvitz from Boardwalk Empire deserve a honorary mention.

Gus Fring has to be near the top of the list, but for my money I'd say Margo Martindale as Mags Bennett on Justified.

John Goodman on "Community" has been pretty awesome as the series first real villain. The rest mentioned are good choices.

Yeah, Gus Fring, I would add Brody from Homeland too, but not quite sure if he really counts as a villain though.

How about Darkseid, the best villain that never was for the Smallville finale?

I wouldn't consider Darkseid among the best villains of television in the year. The return of Rosey as Lex is far more along those lines.

Jessica Lange in American Horror Story?

That was my first thought too, but I don't know if she qualifies...??

Let us recap:

1) Failed to warm the family about the murderous ghosts in their house.

2) Locked her Down's Syndrome daughter in a closet full of mirrors.

3) Chained another child up in the attic, until she persuaded her married lover to suffocate him.

4) Shot and killed her husband and the maid he was raping.

5) Tried to poison Violet.

6) Schemed to steal Vivian's baby.

7) Clearly did a great job raising Tate.

8) Casually racist.

9) Dotes on her demonic, nanny-killing grand-child.

Yeah, I think she qualifies! :)

Well sure, if you put it that way....

You could also add "Vicious Homophobe" and "Batshit Crazy" to the list.

Sadly, Season 3 of BB hasn't made it to this side of the pond, never mind S4, so I can't comment on Gus. But your honorary mentions are definitely up there for me.

Oh, that was the abbreviated version!

Walter White.

Does your American cousin not record the show to VHS tapes and send them to you by express mail? :shifty:

I think there's been enough Gus Fring luuuv for now, so instead I'll nominate:

Tate from American Horror Story, mainly for the great job Evan Peters did with the role.

Regina/Evil Queen and Mr. Gold/Rumplestiltskin from Once Upon a Time, for convincingly embodying fairy tale villains in a real world context.

Linc Potter from Sons of Anarchy for just being an entertainingly creepy weirdo. :rommie:

I come from the only family in Ireland with no US relatives! (And on a more serious note, I'm not one for streaming etc)

Jessica Lange on American Horror Story, for sure...the final minutes of the season finale cement her as a villian, even if ya decide to ignore everything else in the series!
