The best Trek bad guy

Why? We've been doing it with comic book characters for decades. Besides, when someone brings up Khan in the TOS forum, I usually figure they're talking about the version from "Space Seed".

Because most comic book characters have had multiple versions over several decades, and Khan only had one version for nearly 50 years. And I think reading a reference to the Into Darkness Khan in the TOS forum hit me harder because I wasn't expecting it.

Montalkhan and Cumberkhan.

I like these nicknames and may have to steal them. :)

Why? what is problem?

You don't have to choose a favorite if not needed.

I'm bummed because Khan was a great villain who was used in a less-than-great film (STID) just for the name recognition & to piggyback on previous successes. I love Cumberbatch as an actor, but he was wasted in that part.

Really, it's best not to get me started, because I'll just go all :scream: on you. :)

I am incredibly depressed that we now have to specify which version of Khan we're talking about when we're talking about Khan as a villain. :wah:

Why? I do not believe its a stretch to say only a few on ST message boards even know about another character named Khan, while the popular face of the villain has been associated with Montalban for generations. Even parodies of Kirk's "Khan" yell are known more than the knock off in that JJ film.

My father watched STID on an airline flight and was disappointed in that he saw it as WOK with modern effects and Khan was played by "That guy who looks like a robot."

Boy, I hadn't had such a good laugh in ages...

The pro-counsel from "Bread and Circuses".

Agreed. He was painfully aware of all of the Prime Directive rules of the Federation game, using them for his own evil purposes....and damned smug about it. In the end, he was just a plain, cold-blooded killer. Stand-out bad guy.

That was an accident, by the way. I thought this thread was in GTD. I don't mean to cause any problems about the whole Khan/Khan issue.

That said, my vote for best villain goes to charming psychopath Lenore Karidian ("The Conscience of the King"),

Okay, I can't resist mentioning that Lenore is back in my new Trek novel, Foul Deeds Will Rise, which came out just a month or so ago.

Thanks for giving me an excuse to mention it! :)

With that said. I'm going to go with the Salt Vampire from "The Man Trap".

True, the Salt Vampire was an awesome villain. The only reason I think it lost was because it became desperate. Otherwise, solid bad "guy". :D

I was skimming along in this thread, and for a second I thought your book was called Four Deeds and a Will. And I'm sorry Greg, but I like my title better. The way I see it, Lenore gets very big into the legal documents processing game, and she figures out how to become a self-made heiress on Planet Q.

Harry Mudd makes an appearance, but if Lenore has her way, it will be his last. :techman:

Please. Write this. :)
