the BEST scene

Many will say that the death scene between Kirk/Spock in KHAN is the best of the movies scenes, or one of them. But for me, the best scene is the scene from STAR TREK 4, inside of Gilian's truck.

The way that scene flows back and forth plays out better than any scene from any of the movies, IMO. The humor, the timing, all of it is well done, and I think flows more naturally than any scene from the TOS movies.

Spocks death scene in Khan may get the tears, and it does in spades, but the scene in that truck gets the laughter, and I think, is the better of the two.

The scene with the Punk on the Bus from Star Trek IV. When Spock puts the Vulcan Pinch on him and his head falls and turns off the boom box...I love it!

yep..another great scene from VOYAGE MOVIE. I have seen people on this site blast that movie, but I don't care. Of ALL the Trek movies, its the most 'general population' friendly, and it is always a blast to see IMO..

My favorite scene?

Kirk: Computer, this is Admiral James T. Kirk, request security access.
*BEEP*
Computer, destruct sequence one, code 11A.
Scotty: Computer, Commander Montgomery Scott, chief engineering officer. (James Horners brilliant score starts to kick in) Destruct sequence two. Code 11A2B.
Chekov: Computer, this is Commander Pavel Chekov, acting science officer. Destruct sequence three, code:1B2B3.
Computer: Destruct Sequence completed and engaged. Awaiting final code for one minute countdown.
Kirk: Code, zero, zero, zero, destruct, zero.
Computer: Destruct Sequence is activated.

It's one of those bigger Star Trek moments that's very quiet and very personal. I liked that it wasn't announced and it wasn't discussed ahead of time. The dark, smokey and red lit bridge really shows how futile the situation has become. They've sacrificed everything to get where they are now, they were so close to getting where they needed to go, and now thanks to Kruge, they're being forced to take steps they've never taken to the very end. And James Horner's score that starts in the middle of the sequence is very unique. The way it slowly builds up totally reinforces the idea that "This is it. They're about to lose something that's been a part of their lives for over 15 years." Great stuff.

I don't know if I'd call it a best scene, but the shot of the landing party looking up into the sky as the Enterprise is burning through the atmosphere overhead is very moving. Hell, it's downright sad. :(

Yes ! One of my favorite scene ever. A truly intense moment.

"Computer, activate manual steering column"

What, why are you all looking at me like that...?

:vulcan:

"...and he piled upon the whale's white hump, a sum of all the rage and hate felt by his whole race. If his chest had been a cannon, he would've shot his heart upon it."

He finally sees what he'd become, and the look on his face, the quietness of the delivery, the music, it was just perfectly executed I think, and one of the most poignant moments in any Trek movie.

My favorite moment in any Trek is in TWoK in the Genesis Cave when Kirk starts explaining that he doesn't like to lose, and then gets beamed up to the Enterprise. Everything about the scene is sublime, from the way Kirk bites into his apple to the look on Saavik's face.

^^ Bravo..good one.

Another sublime Kirk classic scene is when, in THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY, he tells scotty to keep the ship together, scotty says 'I always do', and then it cuts to kirk stepping backward into the turbolift with a slight grin as if with us, the audience in the theatre, he knows scotty will come through.

Very beautiful, but it's Bones' line that brings it together, and holds Kirk together.

Kirk: My god, Bones. What have I done?
Bones: What you had to do. What you always do. Turn death into a fighting chance to live.

Although its a short scene, and comedy no less, I love the scene when Kirk is crossing the street (just as he had in City..) and the taxicab driver yells at him.."Why dont you watch where you're going; dumbass!!" and Kirk replieds "Well, double dumbass on you"..my kids and I laugh hard everytime we see it...

..and we just watched the Voyage Home this past weekend. A nice, clean, family film made for everyone. It seems this movie gets little love here on BBS, but I love it...

^I believe that's Generations, not TUC.

I can't believe I did that...you are so right. Generations indeed...

hmmm..TNG movie? My favorite TNG movie scene is when Soran is making that wonderful speech to Picard about death, when Picard tries to talk him out of doing what he was going to do...

Not to rain on you, but to further the conversation, that seems kinda cornball to me.

Peace to you, however, SBK. Perhaps your soul is nicer than mine, frankly.

I always thought that was a great scene. One of the best moments of Star Trek 3.
