I am surprised there is so much love for Observer Effect - this and Bound are the two episodes I always skip from Season 4.

Maybe it's better than I remember? Although I have seen it at least three or four times and it didn't get any better.

Weird. I've always considered Observer Effect to sum up Star Trek perfectly. It's one of my stop five episodes of any Star Trek series.

Weird. I agree about Bound, but Observer Effect has always struck me as one of ENT's best episodes.

The main reason why I couldn't do it without cheating... having a Volume 1/2. Even though (frankly sick and tired of being brow beaten into accepting) ENT's "alledged" unpopularity, meaning it would never be lucky enough to get a first disc.

and excellent casting of the guest actors on the show.

Beats me why they released a Best of TNG in the first place, creating a certain amount of envy among fans of the spin-offs.

Re-releasing selected episodes of TOS, I can understand...

Because TNG was the most successful series of them all?

TOS is, of course, the most iconic one. So it makes perfect sense to do 'best ofs' of these shows in order to sell stuff to the (very) casual fans.
