The best episode of TNG - Part Three

Consider "The Most Toys" dropped. Saul Rubinek's character drove me nuts, although I suppose that was the point - but I just have a hard time sitting through that one.

The Ensigns of Command
The Survivors
Who Watches the Watchers?
The Enemy
Deja Q
Yesterday's Enterprise
Sins of the Father
Allegiance
Hollow Pursuits
Sarek
The Best of Both Worlds (Part One)

The Ensigns of Command
The Survivors
Who Watches the Watchers?
The Enemy
Deja Q
Yesterday's Enterprise
Sins of the Father
Hollow Pursuits
Sarek
The Best of Both Worlds (Part One)

OK, I see that my other least favorite is still on, so I'm taking it out now: Allegiance. It's a weirdly TOS idea with the Picard doppelganger and it makes for some awkward scenes. The resolution of the "mystery" is bland and that alone makes this episode stand out as lackluster in a season that was otherwise so well-written.

The Ensigns of Command
The Survivors
Who Watches the Watchers?
The Enemy
Yesterday's Enterprise
Sins of the Father
Hollow Pursuits
Sarek
The Best of Both Worlds (Part One)

Removed Deja Q. It's my least favorite Q episode besides True Q.

The Ensigns of Command
The Survivors
The Enemy
Yesterday's Enterprise
Sins of the Father
Hollow Pursuits
Sarek
The Best of Both Worlds (Part One)

I eliminated Who Watches the Watchers? because it is least interesting of the ones left.

Removing Ensigns of Command. It ought to say something, that Stewart steals this episode with Picard's Sheliak negotiations. I just found it hard to swallow Data being so inept at handling this situation, especially considering that less than a half a season later, he is literally giving Humanities lessons to Q. Until Deja-Q, it seemed like they were dumbing Data down during season 3. He looked like a stupe in "Ensigns of Command", & then he gets duped to Hell and back in "The Hunted" (glad that one got the axe)

The Survivors
The Enemy
Yesterday's Enterprise
Sins of the Father
Hollow Pursuits
Sarek
The Best of Both Worlds (Part One)

Kind of surprised The Defector got eliminated so soon. It's one of my favorites from season 3. I didn't figure it to hold out to the end of the round though

The Enemy
Yesterday's Enterprise
Sins of the Father
Hollow Pursuits
Sarek
The Best of Both Worlds (Part One)

Bye-Bye The Survivors. Although almost everything (with the slight exception of Troi's headaches) about this episode works, there's just not enough story in there keep it going for forty-five minutes.

The Enemy
Yesterday's Enterprise
Sins of the Father
Sarek
The Best of Both Worlds (Part One)

Hollow Pursuits is gone. A fun episode, no doubt, but I don't think it belongs among these great titles.

The Enemy
Yesterday's Enterprise
Sins of the Father
The Best of Both Worlds (Part One)

So long, Sarek. It's a good episode, but it's just not good enough.

Yesterday's Enterprise
Sins of the Father
The Best of Both Worlds (Part One)

Time for The Enemy to leave. It's one of my personal favorites, but just doesn't cut the mustard next to the others here

Wow, this is tough. yesterday's Enterprise is a great episode by itself, but SotF leads into the whole Klingon arc which crosses over to another series. But we are dealing with individual episodes here, and as good as the klingon arc is, SotF can't stand up to YE. Bye bye, SotF.

Yesterday's Enterprise
The Best of Both Worlds (Part One)

The Best of Both Worlds (Part One)

Yesterday's Enterprise is one of the series very best episodes. The script is incredibly good, the performances are superb and the climactic battle is amongst the best that TNG has to offer. The Best of Both Worlds, Part One is an absolutely iconic episode, probably the best that TNG has to offer and the one that truly brought The Next Generation out of the shadow of its progenitor. The tone for the episode is set straight away and the Borg are portrayed as a completely unstoppable threat. As an aside the real world possibility that Patrick Stewart might not continue in the series only served to up the ante as there was a real possibility that this might well be Picard's swan song.

If The Best of Both Worlds, Part One isn't TNG's greatest episode it's certainly its finest Part One that TNG produced and for that matter the finest Part One of the entire Star Trek franchise. My only problem with this story as a whole is that it should have been a film.

Actually, it was just a bit confusing as you posted the name "Best of Both Worlds" and we weren't sure if that was the list itself or the name of the episode you were removing.
