I wouldn't mind seeing Batman take on a DC villain who wasn't part of his usual Rogues Gallery.
Yep, especially the way they teased him. Sort of tied their hands for what they'll do in potential sequels. Also added another few minutes to an already overly long movie.I enjoyed this movie, but drank way too much water before. Didn't think they needed to tease Joker, though.
Nothing uplifting just dread and darkness, sadness, and more darkness.
This crap been going on since Tim Burton, someone has to have some sense of imagination to have a different take on the mythos of Batman?
Honestly, I thought I saw DC's version of SE7EN without the soul; there was something exciting about Sommerset and Mills' hunt to find John Doe, I also got to know who those detectives were as I went along for the journey. This movie lacks anything human with the characters present; all of them were architypes but lacked the dimensions I would follow in a narrative like that. Contrast to another series of detective fiction like Poirot's "Death of the Nile" and the previous film "Murder on the Orient Express" the world was dark and I understood who the characters were and their motivations. With the settings all well plotted I understood where the mystery was going and the resolution it devised, it presented how much it honored its characters and didn't make them appear like caricatures.Certainly, that's the case with Patt-Man's version. Darkness needs to have clear motives / causes for the world one establishes, not there just to say, "well its dark." ..and its Batman!
Oh, there were a universe's worth of problems with Burton's view of the character.
There’s a small hint of hope in the closing VO where Patman says (and I forget the exact wording) that his approach so far, reclusive, ‘I am vengeance’ etc is not the way and he needs to find a better one.Nothing uplifting just dread and darkness, sadness, and more darkness. I think with the way Batman tends to operate, this kind of a build makes more sense, rather than the big body builder type they go for sometimes. Batman is the kind of character who's going to want to move fast, and get in and get out of places quick, and you can't do that if you're a massive body builder type.As for R-Pattz, I thought he nailed the part too. Probably a better Batman than Bruce Wayne but I liked that his BW was very different from Bale’s or Affleck’s, yet equally legitimate and valid. He looked a little scrawny in the shirtless scene but I guess they were going for a Bruce Lee look as opposed to the Arnie-type build of his immediate predecessors. Certainly he was totally convincing in the fight scenes and I loved the voiceover.
I think I read somewhere that Reeves or one of the other people involved in the movie, already expressed some interest in the Court of Owls. I'm assuming we're going to see Hush at some point, having a character from the same era as Bruce's parents with the last name Elliot, just feels like to clear of a set up for them not to do something with it at some point.Didn't take long for speculation to begin on the next movie. Do not read link unless you've seen the movie or don't mind spoilers.
I'm hoping for Court of Owls or Hush to be in the next one. Both fit this style of movie and neither has seen a live action version yet.

Our scars can destroy us, even after the physical wounds have healed. But if we survive them, they can transform us. They can give us the power to endure, and the strength to fight.
If this movie is about him becoming hope then what's the next movie's theme? So long story short. He's going to try to give hope to Gotham at the end of the movie.

Yes. He becomes Superman in the sequel. If this movie is about him becoming hope then what's the next movie's theme?
If this movie is about him becoming hope then what's the next movie's theme?
Maybe about his alter ego Bruce Wayne?
And propably with the Joker, but I hope not
Then he's not Batman.Did you not pick up on the fact that Batman was in his second year? He made mistakes and his mission in Gotham was not focused properly.
In the beginning he kept using his "vengeance" to strike fear into citizens.
That vengeance attracted people to enact their own vengeance. That riddler follower Batman beat up repeated Batman's line about vengeance.

This caused Batman to rethink what he was doing
We must rebuild people’s faith.
Vengeance won’t change the past.
I have to become more.
So long story short. He's going to try to give hope to Gotham at the end of the movie.
