Chris Gore of Film Threat will be holding a YouTube mock trial of NuTrek for "crimes against popular culture". If anyone here wishes to contribute to the defense...

Who the fuck would want anything to do with something this moronic?

Every alleged adult involved should be ashamed to show their faces in public - but of course, they don't care. They're only in this to monetize the rage of a lot of very sad people...

I'm busy following four real trials all involving the same person, all of which are about things that actually matter. Like having an effect on the future of Democracy.

When it comes to "popular culture", the only three versions of Star Trek they're aware of are: TOS, TNG, and the Abrams Movies. No other version of Star Trek, besides those three, has risen to pop culture's consciousness. So, any "crimes" are beneath their notice. "Case" thrown out.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Wait. This is for real?

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

And...and...you are, with a straight face, actually asking for someone here to "contribute to the defense"...like it was a real and serious thing?

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

Whoo. Let me catch my breath. I haven't had such a good laugh at unequivocal idiocy in...years.

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

Wow, he must be really desperate for attention. I would say I was sad to see him sink so low, but given a lot of his more recent views it’s well deserved.

FWIW, when they did their Star Wars trial they did try and find pro-sequel trilogy people to offer countering opinions. So considering there are people here that claim to want to take the YouTubers on...

But in all honesty yeah this is far more a tongue in cheek reference to add levity to this thread than anything I take seriously. Well, 80% sarcasm, 20% seriousness...

You see something similar with Marvel. Not every hero is aimed at the same audience but because they share a universe fans of the more popular heroes claim that giving any airtime to such characters is a woke betrayal of everything Stan Lee stood for.
Ah yes. That famously anti-woke creator, Stan Lee.
I enjoyed pointing out to certain fans that SHE-HULK, in particular, had actually been created by Lee back in 1979 and was hardly some new "woke" innovation.

I remember at least one guy being left a little flustered and off-balance by this revelation, which clearly came as news to him. :)
Interestingly, She-Hulk was created because Marvel was concerned that the makers of the Incredible Hulk TV show would create a female Hulk character and they didn't want Universal to hold all the rights to such a character. Spider-Woman was similarly created to secure the rights to the name.

It's really amazing how many things comics have done in anticipation of TV or the movies doing them first. That's why DC Comics had Neal Adams redesign Robin's costume in 1990 and why Marvel Comics decided to finally tell Wolverine's origin story in the early 2000s.

Don't get me started. Nostalgia isn't what it used to be!
Of course not. They ran the '80s into the ground. It used to be my favorite decade. They ran it into the ground even worse than the '70s.

These days, I'm more interested in the 1920s. Which the public at large considers to be "historic" not "nostalgic". So, thankfully, no one's going to make me sick of that decade.

Before someone says, "But you like Picard Season 3!", that was an Isolated Case. A "TNG Movie" in the style of a TOS Movie was something I wanted to see since I was a kid. But the actual TNG Movies weren't distanced enough from the series to do something like that. PIC was.

20% seriousness is embarrassingly high for someone who isn’t a child.

These types of livestreams frequently reach more people than a BBS does.

Many of the likely contributors have interviewed / engaged with people active in various Star Trek productions. So, yes, while the idea of putting Star Trek on trial is a bit of a gaff, it can't be completely dismissed.

Do you think the guys with the YouTube channels whining about [insert franchise here] really hate it? It's getting them youtube clicks and youtube money. They're putting on an act of mock outrage and radicalising fans so they get more money in the future. It's no more real than the orgasms on onlyfans.

I wish I'd thought of it first.

Not surprising given how media literacy is at an all time low. There are videos explaining what happens in a movie despite it being obvious to anyone who actually watches it.

Negative reviews get more views since people who liked it will comment and drive up engagement. So it’s more profitable to claim you hate something than love it. Sometimes they do switch it ends up being universally loved and profitable like that recent Mario Bros movie. YouTube chuds were claiming it was “woke” because Princess Peach wasn’t in a cage until it made a billion dollars and they claimed it was “anti-woke”. But people eat it up like hogs eating slop.
