Do anyone know why in TAS the avocado command shirt of that captain does sport the science badge whereas Kirk got the command badge. Even Uhura has the science badge. What is the explanation for this mixture?

They tried, but the logos in the badges were hard for them continuity wise - they would have been better off giving everyone a star or just leaving them blank similar to Lower Decks.

Does not compute. :brickwall: Red Alert: Wardrobe failure in Sickbay.

What the heck??? I take it that's from Lights of Zetar. How did that even happen?? I guess Scotty's shirt needed a new delta and the wardrobe department sewed on the wrong one . . . ?

I think the badges were removed for dry cleaning and were sewed back on afterwards. Someone screwed up Scotty's badge. Funny not even Doohan caught the continuity error. Or anyone that acted in the scene with him.

Not a badge but I've heard Nimoy had a big coffee stain on one of his tunics, that is more evident on blu ray etc. I haven't seen it myself.

It seems like Scotty has his "correct" badge on early in engineering and I think once again later in engineering. The rest of the episode he has the globe or sciences badge. Does it ever change in the same scene?

As I recall, this happened more than once.

Yep, they had to remove all of the patches and rank insignia every time they laundered the uniforms, plus, union rules required them to launder the costumes every day, it’s to their credit they only messed it up a couple times.

James Doohan's shirt would look a little pink on occasion, at least to me. I know, this isn't badge related.

TAS did say the uniforms were algae based.

The Tettatin Incident

SPOCK: Miss Chapel, what is the composition of this decoration?
CHAPEL: It was made for me by the titanium smiths of Libra, but it was an arm bracelet. More like a necklace now.
SPOCK: Yet the uniform on which you wear it fits as well as ever. Uniform made of algae-based xenylon, I believe.
MCCOY: Aren't all our uniforms xenylon?
KIRK: Yes, and they've all been shrinking proportionately with us.

Also established in Spock's Brain:
<Kirk reaches behind his waist and under his shirt bottom, possibly touching something, then gives an oral command.>
KIRK: Suit temperatures to seventy two.
Apparently, Kirk prefers to use Fahrenheit or maybe it's a percent of the clothes' capabilities to heat up. Also, does this temperature control apply to pants, boots, and even women's pantyhose? That xenylon (alien-nylon?) is good stuff. :techman:
