It was wonderful to see Trace and Raza again! I figured even before we saw R7 that their contact would be Fulcrum/Ahsoka. Looks like they're setting up the eventual recruitment of the Bad Batch for the Rebellion. The only downside about that is we'll get less (or no more) of Rhea Perlman, who stole every moment she was in at the beginning of the episode.
One would assume that their contact is Ahsoka (because how else did they get her droid?) which seems a little at odds with the novel since she's not supposed to be actively working for Bail until about a year post Order 66, indeed she's mostly just keeping her head down. But they've already proven they're not massively concerned about being beholden to the tie-in media, so maybe there's other plans afoot.
I finally read Ahsoka last month and really enjoyed it, so I would be disappointed if it becomes even more disconnected with on-screen continuity. But as you said, it's already off track a bit considering the flashback to Mandalore and the events immediately thereafter
Not that it matters that much, but I have two potential solutions: The events of the novel have been retconned to earlier (i.e. Ahsoka goes to Raada much sooner) OR Raza and Trace's contact is actually Rex and that's why Raza figured their contact would be interested in rebellious clones.
However, considering their connection to Ahsoka, I imagine the contact will in fact turn out to be Ahsoka, but for now either solution works.

I actually wondered when their episodes came out of they were setting up the idea that they'd be the first people Ahsoka went to after escaping Order 66. Guess I was right.
As with the Kanan comic, one can still sort of dance around it provided Bail isn't involved yet. Maybe in the next few weeks or months the heat goes up and she's forced to cut ties and run, eventually winding up on Thabeska.
Too early to be Ashoka. At this time she was stuck on some random planet trying to keep a low profile. It’s obviously Maul. Maybe they’re actually going to do something worthwhile with him.
At least we now know why those boring Ashoka Clone Wars episodes were made. Hopefully one day they will finish the Utapau and Boba Fett episodes.

Would there will be any contradiction if Bail does not know that his contact with the Montez sisters is Ahsoka? For that matter, I'm wondering if there would be much of a contradiction if he does know, but she doesn't know he does, or it is otherwise not acknowledged.
The way the book refers to their pre-Empire interactions could also refer to some post-Empire ones, easily, unless I'm forgetting something.
“Bail Organa?” Ahsoka said. “I can’t believe they let him live. He’s a known Jedi sympathizer. He must be in so much danger.”
Bail swallowed a shout of pure triumph. He knew those markings. This wasn’t just any Jedi; it was Ahsoka Tano, and he had to find her immediately. [...] He couldn’t really blame Ahsoka for her caution. He hadn’t associated with her as closely as with Skywalker and Kenobi, and she hadn’t parted well with anyone when she left Coruscant. Also, he’d sent two people to kidnap her, essentially.
The last bit is the only thing I could see as a potential problem, so long as they don't openly work together.
It would be great if the mystery figure at the end is not Bail, though. Or Ahsoka is not the contact – although how else Rafa and Trace would get involved in this is beyond me, and it would be too much of a small universe syndrome; albeit although Ahsoka did need to reach out to somebody, reaching out to somebody on Coruscant? Hmm...
Dunno. That would be an odd attire for Rex, though he would fit the dialogue. Bail hasn't be dressed like that in that era either. It's not the male Kaminoan from the opening episode, unless we were looking at his butt. Could be Lux Bonteri? Cham Syndulla (where did his lekku go)? Commander Sato during his smuggling days?
Man, I cannot even begin to fathom that. Maul is the one thing I actually agree with Filoni on. Probably one of his best character arcs in the Clone Wars.

R7 is the smoking gun here. It's Ahsoka's droid, last seen (in pieces) with Ahsoka and Rex. So the Martez sisters could only have gotten it from Ahsoka or Rex, and while it's not impossible that Ahsoka both gave Rex R7 and pointed him in the direction of the sisters, it seems at odds with his appearance on Rebels to have him running a rebel operation mere weeks into that era.
While Ahsoka unknowingly working for Bail by-proxy isn't impossible per see, it does seem unlikely since 1) How would a pair of grifters from 1313 like the Martez sisters make contact with the senator of Alderaan? And 2) it's at odds with the spirit of the first meeting as presented in the book, if not strictly the letter.
Indeed, as the book itself points out, Ahsoka and Bail didn't really have much of anything to do with each other during the Clone Wars. The familiarity was one of mutual acquittances.

The spirit is that they were meeting and working together for the first time, sure, but they had already “worked together” at a distance during the Clone Wars. Extending that from a few month before it to a few months after the declaration of the Empire wouldn't exactly break the spirit. I definitely wouldn't like it, and I also did read more into it, but since I feel the show is very likely to go there... I'm already re-evaluating it. Not great, not terrible.

Agree to disagree. Maul was one of the few high points of the villains in Clone Wars, and very interesting character in Rebels. If that is boring then I'll be bored. Thanks
Maybe I had the benefit of watching the whole series at once (I didn't watch Clone Wars or Rebels until after Ahsoka's appearance on The Mandalorian) but I loved those episodes. The entire final season was excellent.
Great episode this week. I see I'm on the same page as everyone else thinking the "contact" is indeed Ahsoka. I wonder if this will lead to the Batch reuniting with Rex, as we see in the trailers? Meanwhile, it appears Wrecker's headaches might indeed be connected to his Order 66 chip as many have been speculating.
Yeah, him muttering the word soldier over and I etwas obviously supposed to be Soldiers follow orders!
It intensifies every time he hits his head.
The others seem unaffected so far.
I expect him to turn within the next episode or so.
He went full “good soldiers follow orders” once. I was sure it was going to be this episode, especially after Rafa said she heard this before when Hunter told her “we are different”.
