The Axe/Renewal Thread (Finale)

I did one back for Feb and March sweeps but held off doing one at the start of April because a few new shows were airing so I wanted to see how they did. In around 3 weeks we should know the fates of all our TV shows and with time almost up heres how I feel the sitaution is...

Most of the shows I watch are on the safe side, except Lie to me. But if it's not better than the last season, I can most certainly live with that.

I just read a horrible article from Yahoo dealing with "bubble shows".

I'd like to know how the writer got his job. For the amount of money he probably gets paid to write trash I will sleep with someone for the job.

He or she had shows that were pulled from the schedule as "bubble" shows like Chaos, yet also had hit shows like Body of Proof in as a "bubble". Makes no sense.

One of the following I feel will live... Lie to Me, Human Target or The Chicago Code. I think Fox will still want a back up show in chance things bomb as badly as Lone Star did this year. Plus the dino show is a mess, and I thought the Bones spinoff was a mess, so it would be smart to keep Chicago Code for a 13 episode season. Plus if it's cheap Lie to Me had better ratings, or the same ratings, in the summer as they did in the fall.

The networks pretty much pick there own lineups at this stage but theres still a few too close to call...

Rules of Engagement - Despite low ratings, the show co owned by CBS did better than Mad Love and is always a solid midseason placement. 72 episodes after this season so a 13 pickup to air in the spring onwards next season would not surprise me so the show can be sold in Sydnication.

CSI:NY/The Good Wife - Seemed to have nailed its place on fridays for a final season in 2011/2012 BUT the recent news about The Good Wife signing up actors to a 2 years deal to go with a 2 year pickup has thrown that in doubt. The Good Wife surley cannot stay on a non friday night meaning CSI:NY would have to be axed to make room.

Breaking In - Lousy rentention of our American Idol BUT Fox are keen to give sitcoms a chance though any more audience erosion would probably end any hopes.

Nikita/OTH/Hellcats - CW is in a right mess so any could survive, simply too close to call.

I love Lie to Me too; Tim Roth is amazing. But, yeah, they need to step it back up if it continues...

I'm gonna miss Off the Map if/when it's canceled. I don't usually like medical dramas but I fell in love with this one from day one. :(

My bff's sister-in-law's hubby is a producer for #@% My Dad Says so I hate it for them but I couldn't get into it and I wished I could for their sakes.

My faves NCIS, Bones, Castle, etc. being safe or close to safe (in Bones' case) makes me happy. :)

ETA: Oh, and Hawaii Five-O had BETTER be renewed or I will go crazy!!

^Bones is safe, it might just end up on NBC.

The two year thing with The Good Wife is rather shocking. I think CBS sees it as the only show they have that people talk about. It's the only drama that gets nominated for awards and I guess they want to give it a 4-5 year story time to tell. I find it amazing they are signing the actors to 2-3 years for a show that really doesn't fit with CBS at all.

Bones will be safe on FOX for at least 2 more years though I could see the 2nd year being reduced in episodes and ending up on fridays. CBS needs a better fit for the NCIS night, so even if its renewed I would be surprised to see it remain on Tuesdays...

Infact I would consider moving CSI from Thursdays at 9pm to Tuesday at 10pm.

I'm shocked anyone would want to renew such a dull and cliched show...

I agree, I love the cast of the show so much, but the 3-4 times I have seen it were just boring. I just figured I was watching bad episodes.

However it's CBS, most of their shows are boring and clinched.

Agree some of the key cast are very talented and watchable actors. But I'm still amazed the show got a second series...

I was astounded to discover that the only network I really watch is ABC.
The few shows I watched on other networks are all canceled/doomed so there you have it.
Except the cartoons on Fox. I tune in once in a while for those.

What is in the Tea leaves for The Event? Granted I think I am probably the only one who still watches and still relatively enjoys it....

The Event was DOA when it made its comeback because a massive break, spring weather on return and the ratings were already falling before. Even on NBC the show has 0% chance of returning.

I don't get how this Undercover Boss thing works. Based on it's premise, this show shouldn't have legs. Anytime someone shows up to work with a camera crew and some BS story about trying out a job for a day, wouldn't most people assume it's this show? I'm assuming that everyone is in on it right from the start.

Yeh I don't get that and am sure the ratings will probably begin to sink pretty quickly soon. I think CBS may be forced to reduce it to a 13 episode season eventually to air over the summer or share the slot over the course of the prime time season.

IPlus the dino show is a mess
Are you talking about Terra NOva? if so, I thought it hadn't premiered yet so how do you know it is a mess?

No end of leaked stories have thrown up issues with the budget, special effects, rifts in the direction of the show...Its not looking good

They seem to have been making the show for 18 months to two years and haven't yet finished the two hour pilot. They are supposed to have 13 episodes and as of right now they have 1, and it's not a complete story.

The show is DOA, I still think it will end up as a "mini series event" of 2-13 episodes. If it takes them this long to make an hour it will be another 25 years before we get 13 episodes. The show really missed it's time, they needed to show it last May when Avatar was fresh, now it's just "ehh....".

The Event might have a chance, the ratings are about as great as Fringe. ;)
