The attack on Earth : Should it have included Vulcan ?

Come to it, though, since the mere presence of a Sphere pumping out its sphericity-waves will kill planets in the vicinity after long enough exposure, why didn't the Sphere Builders just skip the whole Xindi gimmick and drop a sphere half a light-year off of the Sun a couple centuries ago when they started pushing Spheres into the Delphic Expanse? It'd pretty well pre-empt not just the Federation and kill off Earth, but also would soon wipe out possible other antagonists like Vulcan and the Klingons.

Or was wiping out the forces that would have gathered from the murdered Delphic Expanse worlds all the more critical?

Perhaps the sphere builders couldn't destroy Earth any earlier than the mid 22nd century because humans prior to that point might have set into motion events that the Sphere Builders needed to occur in order to make their desired timeline occur. That would also explain why they only sent the Reptilians into the past to test the bioweapon and not deploy it.

It's well established that this was a preemptive strike at Earth because it would successfully unite the disparate races of the galaxy against them. Without it, they would remain manageable enemies.

But don't be too rational! They couldn't build a sphere in the vicinity of Earth, before Terrans developed the technology to travel to the Sun! Drop a sphere in the vicinity of Earth and it could be destroyed by the combined power of dozens of Star ships. The Enterprise was alone. Once the weapon was perfected, it could be used on any world they chose to.

Still, you make a very good point. If the Guardians could build this complex network of spheres that existed on the Xindi plane of existence, why not build the weapon, or a weapon to destroy Earth? Different technologies?

In the Star Trek universe, making a star go nova is certainly doable as well. They have been better off doing that. Enemies have to have fatal flaws of logic somewhere.

^ I think there was something said to the effect that the council had forbiden the use of a biological weapon due to some uncertainty as to who it would be effective against. Or not knowing enough about Earther physiology. I think they were really afraid of their Reptilian brethren. In the hands of the Reptilian, the other races might have been vulnerable to attack as well.

Another thought is that if they had deployed a sphere outside the Delphic Expanse, it might have alerted the other races to the growing threat that much sooner, hence the attempt to annihilate Earth - humanity really - using the bioweapon.

Nah, I'm actually kind of glad the attack seemed Earth-bound. Too much of Vulcan could get annoying, too. I think the Xindi arc worked out well.

for one thing at the time of the attack of the probe the guardians were still hiding the connection between them and the spheres to the xindi/
the other is i believe the spheres are much larger.

since the xindi didnt help to build the spheres and that some of the spheres were in disrepair it is possible a totally different species helped to build the network .

as for the second enterprise they were afraid of corrupting the time line by communicating with earth and decided to go after the probe themsevles.
