The Ashes 2009

Yeah, it's once again the lack of tactical nous in our team - North is turning them 3 feet, and we desperately need to get to the new ball and make up some overs yet Katich and Clarke stand there doing nothing. Dismal captaincy.

Will miss all of the first session ... as the rugby league match on now is more important to me. Hopefully will watch after lunch.

Oh yeah ... go Parra!!

^ Which game are Auntie doing down there? It could be worse, and you could be getting AFL on radio!

England were all out for 332. Yeppie for half time breaks to check other scores. Anyways back to the footy.

Great - rugby league crap instead of cricket again. Thanks for nothing, Auntie ABC.

 Instead of the deciding Ashes test?! That's crap.

I have no idea where we are in this match, I'm not sure England got anywhere near enough, but the general feeling from the media is that the hosts have their noses in front.

All I know for sure is that my prediction yesterday morning of a draw is not looking too good

It seems the LBW law has been removed from the rulebook overnight - Watson should have been given out twice this morning. Looks tricky batting out there, inconsistent bounce and a crumbling wicket on the 2nd morning.

Swann has a big role to play today. He'd be bowling for his spot I reckon, and the pitch will help him.

^
Auntie has...interesting priorities, it seems.

I'd prefer AFL, actually.

332? I suppose that's a better effort on our part than usual, but it would be nice if at some stage our blokes learned to bowl properly to tailenders. Our reply's inching along, which is okay...but getting bogged down wouldn't be a good move either.

Back to Cricinfo. :bolian:

Geelong and the Dogs are playing a cracking game of Friday night footy...shame the match of the round is on at the same time as the cricket.

Anyway, I think we're looking okay now - new ball has been seen off, almost lunch.

Swann bowls way too fast to get top line batsmen out. He needs to throw it up there.

:( (You would probably prefer Cliff Richard over rugby league!)

I would have loved to have the eels match on sunday afternoon, but night matches in both codes draw bigger crowds.

Hopefully the rain will go away ... and we can have some more cricket. I'm kinder watching it, but still on a high at the moment.

I'm on a high too after seeing that St George lost

What a shame the wheels are wobbling on the red and white bandwagon :evil:

Geelong lost in the AFL, so the footballing gods are being kind!

The cricket gods not so much.

Hopefully that wicket isn't being freshened up by the rain, it's tricky enough out there. We're probably lucky not to be a couple of wickets down, fortunately the latest umpiring howlers went our way.

It's a huge session coming up - the next few hours will probably decide these Ashes.

Ponting out! AUS 2/85

Stuart Broad bowling like a world beater :wtf:

50/50 game now.

It's all on the line here.

This is the very definition of tension :scream:

Crap. Hussey out as well. Hopefully Clarke can continue to do what he has done this series and stick around and fight. This series would have probably been pretty ugly for Australia if he had been out injured.

Think Stuey would like me to have his babies? Though I gather he has offers from Lily Allen, who has more youth than I, and more experience.

Still, game on!

Listening to this whole thing on TMS today and yesterday. (Well, actually I'm trying to listen to Kermode and Mayo's Film Reviews, but those darn wickets are interrupting my enjoyment. :p)

According to Geoff Boycott, Australia have officially "had it". He thinks they're going to lose now. :wtf:

Broad is on fire. The Oval pitch is perfect for him right now. The new ball is swinging, and the post-rain conditions are just right for him.

It's a crazy, crazy game this cricket.

Broad has looked well short of test class all series, and probably should have been dropped, now he's stood up to be counted in the session where it was always going to matter the most. Instant immortality if England win here.

Australia in deep trouble now, but while the Kat is there, you wouldn't slash your wrists just yet.

RT via cricinfo.. Sam Northeast is on as a substitute fielder. Won't it be amusing if he runs out Marcus North. North by Northeast.

It didn't happen. He was got by Swann instead. :D

Patience, good Revd. - there's still another innings... :D

@1557:
These wickets should stop tumbling - it's ruining the Kermode reviews! :scream:

... It's Katich.

109-6 now. Hmm... all out before 132?

Incidentally, Kermode vowed to give up reviewing if he found 10 movies worse than "Bride Wars" this year:

So far, he's found 5.
