The Artificial Intelligence Thread

I'm impressed with the Python code completion I'm getting from Claude in VSC, and I'm not even on the latest version. And it's planning for code optimization is also pretty good too.

What isn't impressive is copilot in Office. It's not good at all.

ai videos on youtube is crazy

They are inundating the platform. A.I generated videos remind me of nightmares much of the time. Im a huge star trek fan of course and dreamed about this kind of technology since I was just a little kid watching star trek. Never thought it would come in my lifetime but here we are. Thought it would be a lot cooler and subtle like star trek. Instead it seems more obnoxious especially the way its used. I should have realized. Humans did invent it after all. Lol

I completely agree about all the AI slop inundating YouTube - it's really tiresome to have to keep rejecting the suggestions. I'm not even going to waste my time ratioing them.

I get more pleasure using a combination of ChatGPT and Suno to create music, but the limitations of the training data really start to show through after you've created enough songs. There is no much similarity and very little that seems like a creative, original spark - which is pretty much to be expected.

Perhaps it could do with a few hallucinations that are controlled and bounded. I don't want to listen to an AI that emulates the extremes like Karlheinz Stockhausen, but neither do I want elevator musak. György Ligeti is about as radically experimental as I can tolerate.

I actually liked some of the Sora offerings. We never got to see Lugosi's Dracula and Karloff's Monster together in a film...though I would prefer an A.I. Three Stooges vs Marx Brothers.

Before I leave this Earth, I want to see Curly making Chuck Norris tap-out and Moe Howard chase a terrified Bruce Lee. The 3 inch punch no match for the double-slap eye-gouge routine.

"Flying Tiger, hidden moron"

On a more serious note, there is a video of A.I Socrates deposited in other eras of history...and how badly he would be treated there too.

A noble use of A.I. videos.

As someone who takes a dim view of C&Ds copyrights trademarks patents and Pinkersons, I believe in right-to-compute like right to repair.

Official movies strike me as lame, but some fan submissions are better.

I might like A.I. cobbling together a version of Carpenter's 1982 film... specifically unused footage like this:

To imply there wasn't just one Thing--but two.

Bennings gets killed twice. Infected by one alien, before being eaten by the other.

A different Memory Wall, as it were.

Carpenter wanted THE FOG a bit less intense at first....and I wonder if his first instinct was for THE THING to be more of a detective story, with Friday the 13th and Cronenberg making him step up his game perhaps.
