The Arguments made in the Episode Sanctuary, The Skrreea on Bajor?

Personally I think the Bajorans were right in their decision. Bajor was still heavily reliant on Federation aid and most of the farm land had been poisoned by the Cardassians. Bajor wasn't ready to become caretakers to an impoverished alien society.

I can also imagine that the notion of the skreeans believing Bajor to be their promised land, would have raised the hackles of the Bajoran Government. Considering how the Cardassians viewed Bajor, it's completely understandable that the Bajorans would have been wary of yet another alien race coming along trying to make some claim to their planet.

But the Skreeans weren't asking for help from Bajor other than a spot to settle in and theoretically grow farms.

Whether the Bajorans would have ultimately needed to help them is, of course, an open question.

I still think a test run would have been the best option.

I disagree, there were something like 2 million skreeans in their convoy. As the representative from the Bajoran Government said, if anything went wrong in the Skreean settlement, the Bajorans would feel obligated to help. Help which depending on the situation, the Bajorans may not have been able to provide, especially to a population of 2 million. Also the Skreean belief that Bajor is their promised land added to the Bajoran's just having freed themselves from alien occupiers is problematic. I could see other issues rising as a result of these two factors.

The Skreean's needed their own world and Bajor was right to it's a decision as a sovereign nation.

I haven't questioned whether the Bajorans had the right to refuse the Skreeans, I've questioned whether the decision they made was the most moral and potentially practical decision they could have made. (shrugs)

The Holy Land aspect casts serious doubt at any decision to "give the Devil your little finger". The refugees have freely admitted to what is in practice hostile intent, of feeling more entitled to the land than the natives (or previous settlers or whatnot).

Which is a nice plot complication, but detracts a bit from the general allegory business here.

I don't recall any part of the episode where the Skreeans said they felt more entitled to Bajor than the Bajorans? Is there a part I'm not remembering?

I think the Skreeeans needed to shut up and move along.
It wasn't an obligation of the Bajorans to provide for them.
They should have just thanked their lucky stars that they happened upon people that didn't use their ships for target practice.
