This is the same group the man was reporting on, Sheldrick Trust. Kenya must have some very red clay. Elephants like covering themselves in mud to keep their skin moisturized.

I did my good deed for the day. I heard rustling in the leaves outside my window and went to investigate. It was a big turtle. By the time I got some shoes on it had gotten almost to the street.
I was afraid it would get run over by a car so I picked him up and walked him a block to the creek and put him on the bank. The thing was pretty heavy. I think it was a Florida soft-shell turtle like this one:

Turtles often go away from the water to lay eggs. She might try again.
