The Animals That Aren't Dogs or Cats Thread

Don't forget crispy. (I fully expect you to smack me but I couldn't pass it up).

Crispy fried squirrels taste like chicken.Trust me I know.

O.K., smack me too.

Yes. Honestly the older I get the worse it feels. I guess my empathy is growing. I dunno, we’ve even started eating lower down the food chain, I used to love bacon but it’s hard to enjoy it knowing how intelligent and sweet they can be.

I know this is singular, but this is directed at both of you.

I've started following a whole bunch of people with pigs on Instagram, and after watching all of their cute and funny videos, I can't eat anything made from pigs anymore. Now, I'm on the verge of giving up beef too.
I mean, come on who could eat this guy or this guy .

I :luvlove: that song SO much!

Does anyone else really struggle dealing with videos/tales of wildlife in the wild? The graphic ones where they are killing their prey?Does this stuff bother anyone else?
Yes. Like @Gary Mitch-HELL and @antichristhill I avoid them. The cute stuff though is therapeutic. :) I'm okay with seeing it in documentaries because a piece of a larger reality, and I love learning about the world.

My feelings about animals led me to become vegetarian about 20-25 years ago and vegan about 2-3 years ago (I'm about 90% vegan - I go with it gracefully if I have no options eating out).

I feel the exact same way. It’s hard to change diets though. I was a pescatarian from ages 10-17. I just felt so bad. Then I learned to cook and married a man who loved meat so it was hard.

I know it’s the life cycle I just hate it. I hate seeing animals in pain. And I’ve come to a crossroad because I feel responsible for eating meat. But is it something we must do?

Wow I m really surprised you posted this. That’s pretty fucking awful.

If you respond that badly to answers you don't agree with, maybe a light-hearted animal thread isn't the place to ask those kinds of questions. Also probably not the forum for meat eating quandaries.

I set the intelligence bar at it being wrong to eat meat at monkeys and dolphins. But I wish it were easier to be a free range only meat eater. At least those animals get a happy life before being killed.

It helps to intellectualize that in the wild, animals eating the hell out of each other is what makes it possible for as many of them as possible to be alive.

Nope. Message me privately if you want to talk about it so we don't disrupt the thread.

Harley Spiderson is a spider that has taken to enjoying building webs between my handlebar and fuel tank every night. I should throw the cover over it. Lazy. he's getting bigger. Every morning I drive off and the web wisps away. but every morning there is a new one. He must hide nearby or under the headlight housing. Today I took the car and came back and saw him building. its hard to see on here. This can't go on forever. He or she is bigger than a quarter now and he needs to set up this shop of horrors elsewhere.
