It could be in some kind of wildlife rehab, even at a zoo. It's adapted to the scorching heat of the African savannah so being indoors would be downright chilly especially for a small creature from the tropics.

The squirrels that eat the seeds the birds drop have been out there all day. In fact, there have been 2-3 of them together. I hope I'm not killing them. Are squirrels supposed to eat for hours at a time?

Are you sure they were actually eating all of it, and not just stashing it somewhere?
