The Animals That Aren't Dogs or Cats Thread

Who knows? Maybe spitting dirt another's face is a fish version of dating.

Could be, maybe...

I'm starting to get a little concerned about the care a couple of the horses I visit on my bike rides are getting. They're always tons of flys all over them, they do have fly masks, but there's still more you can do like fly sprays and other things to keep them under control. And I got a look at a little bit different angle than usual today, and I noticed I could see their spines sticking out of their backs. Usually with the horses at good weight their backs are a little more flat or even a little round, but these guys had a bit of a point to them where you could see their spines. It's not horrible, but it's definitely worse than the other horses I see, and I'm gonna be keeping a closer eye on them. If they continue to get worse, I will be calling animal control.
I'm really thinking I might have to report these horses. They've come to the fence a few more times since my quoted post, and they're more of a mess than I thought. They're hooves all overgrowp and chipped, and one of them has bald patches on their back sides and neck. I'm probably still gonna wait a little while, just in cast they are they do start looking better, but not as long as I thought I was going to before, they're definitely in worse shape than I thought.

Anybody here ever been in a situation where they reported animals being abused or neglected? I'm just curious if I'll be able to stay up to date on what's going on with them, or if it goes to a court case, will testify? Will they want to use my videos as evidence?
Anybody know if they get taken if there's a way to arrange for them to go to a specific place? I have a couple rescues that I trust, and would love to see them go to one of them if I can.
I've gotten kind of attatched to these two, since one of them is pretty friendly comes up to the fence a lot to say hi and get some pets. Honestly, I had the money, I'd consider taking them myself.

I don't know JD, maybe contact your local SPCA or the rescue groups that you are familiar with and ask them about your possible legal obligations by reporting this.

It sure as Hell doesn't sound good to me by the way you describe their condition.

Last month, I went on a work trip. The night before I left to come home, I packed up most of my luggage in the car. Taking the first load out, I noticed someone dropped a bag of french fries on the sidewalk, so I was going to tell the front desk. But on my way back in, I noticed someone was already being helpful and was gathering them up.
