No, to once again paraphrase Woody Allen's line about pigeons, 'They are big-ass rats with wings'

Airports use flash-bangs and trained dogs to try to scare them off for good cuz of bird strikes to planes, but it never works for long and it's illegal to kill their invasive ever 'spreading' feathers.

Rats? If birds are descended from dinosaurs, then geese are the spiritual successors of Jurassic Park's velociraptors. (Which were apparently actually modelled on Deinonychus.)

(And yes, now I want someone to redo JP's velociraptor attack scenes with the raptors digitally replaced with geese! )

I'm starting to get a little concerned about the care a couple of the horses I visit on my bike rides are getting. They're always tons of flys all over them, they do have fly masks, but there's still more you can do like fly sprays and other things to keep them under control. And I got a look at a little bit different angle than usual today, and I noticed I could see their spines sticking out of their backs. Usually with the horses at good weight their backs are a little more flat or even a little round, but these guys had a bit of a point to them where you could see their spines. It's not horrible, but it's definitely worse than the other horses I see, and I'm gonna be keeping a closer eye on them. If they continue to get worse, I will be calling animal control.

there's a new documentary recration (Prehistoric Planet) on Apple TV that shows feathered velociraptors. They're still scary :)
