Horses are generally thought to be roughly similar in intelligence to dogs. So, yeah, be careful how you treat them, and pay attention to their feelings from time to time...

I was going back through thread and had a thought about this post.
The other day I was just thinking about how happy it makes me that the way we treat animals, especially animals that we do a lot of training with like dogs and horses, has gotten so much better in the last couple decades. Where it used to be about basically breaking them psychologically so badly they won't resist what you do with them, now it's actually become about working with them, and bonding with them, so that they want to do what you want them to do, instead of forcing them to do it.

I stole that quote from Stardust Memories and despite the fact that I consider him a scumbag, it's true for pigeons and seagulls. Seagulls are worse.
