The Americans is Delightful.

The show proves once again that silence is often the best way to present a tense, chilling moment. The garage scene was so riveting in just a few minutes, not because of any actual risk of them being caught, but because of how Philip was forced to dismember Marilyn and how taking those drastic measures rocked his already shaken soul to the core.

Stan finally had his Hank Schrader moment (albeit much more gradually than Hank) and not a moment too soon. I was worried he wouldn't realize the truth until the final episode and wouldn't get much time to process this knowledge. Obviously, he still has a lot of ground to cover and I fear the confrontation probably won't happen until the final episode, but the gears are more than moving: He's pursuing old cases and see if the link up with the current one.

At this point, I wonder when that confrontation comes, will Philip need much pushing to turn? He's in a very vulnerable position now and if Stan plays his cards right, Philip may just fall into his hands. Will Elizabeth realize what's going on before it's too late and decide to kill him...with the cyanide? Especially since she flat out told Paige her father made a mistake in joining so young. My jaw is still on the floor that she said that to Paige.

I still don't think Paige fully realizes what she's getting into, but damn she's committed. I wish the show had another season just to show how she becomes even more involved and how that affects her.

Poor Henry. He knows things are messed up at home but he has no idea how badly and why. I hope we get enough time to see him process the truth before the show ends.

I was really worried for Stan when he went into there house, I thought they could come home and he would end up dead.

They've got a lot to wrap up in the last three episodes. I wonder what the message was that Philip sent Oleg?

I've got a feeling Paige is going to get killed and that could be what rips them apart and brings them down.

I'm actually getting nervous for Stan. I think he's going to be snooping around and getting a little more interested in his neighbors and Paige is going to catch on and think she has no choice but to kill him in order to protect her family. Stan will confront Phillip and Elizabeth, and Paige will come out of nowhere -- OR -- his honeypot lady friend Laurie Holden will be the true sleeper Elizabeth thinks she is and come in and clean up their mess.

Argh... Sooooo many theories... Phillip would, I think, turn in an instant, but if Stan finds out the truth, Elizabeth won't hesitate to put a bullet in his head... Or worse, like Riverside said... It comes down to Paige.. The fly in the ointment here is definitely Laurie... Don't know how they're going to wrap this up neatly...

Well that episode threw a curve-ball. I fully expected this to shake out as Philip vs. Elizabeth. Now it looks like The Centre vs. Them. With Stan zeroing in.

The preview for next week shows Oleg being questioned by the FBI (I'd guess apprehended while he's retrieving a drop?). Stan calling Pastor Tim (!) and Elizabeth clearing out her garage of stuff. Damn writers....they've managed to pull it off. I thought I had it figured out, and with a tiny tweak, they flipped the script and will make the final two episodes breathless for us. They're going to make us REALLY hope the Jennings make it out of this, now that Elizabeth is on the "right" side, with Philip and Oleg.

The smart thing to do is go to Stan and spill the beans, which puts Oleg in the clear (with Stan, at least) and lets the FBI foil the whole Summit plan, while P&E work out a deal. Hopefully Oleg gets back home safely and the Jennings live happily ever after.

Yeah, no. That won't happen. Duh. These last two episodes are going to be crazy suspenseful.

Yes, nice twist with Elizabeth seeing where Philip was coming from, and experiencing the treason first hand and how she was used. Her shift isn't out of the blue. She'd grown to appreciate the artist she had to off this week, and she's grown to become sentimental. She almost saved the painting, and she did let the intern go. She also definitely hated seducing the intern.

From the previews:
That seduction looks like it will circle back next week and get between her and Paige. Oh, and good to see Pastor Tim coming back too!

I also loved the twist with Elizabeth realizing how she was being used and I agree her shift in direction was't out of the blue. Not just because of the artist, but also because of the past conflicts between her and Claudia. As soon as Elizabeth said she wouldn't kill the diplomat and insisted on the truth, all of the old hatred from way back in season 1 came rushing back and it was clearly felt on both sides.

That all said, even if Elizabeth has shifted gears, she's rightfully still livid at Philip for betraying her trust, even if he's right that she would've done the same for the sake of their country.

At this point, I feel like the show is trolling us on Renee and if she's more than she seems. Between the quick letter from the FBI and the look Renee gave Stan as he stared across the street when she turned off the lights seemed way too on the nose. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Can people please stop talking about what's seen in the previews? I deliberately avoid them because this one of those few shows I want to be completely unspoiled on. Thanks.

Usually I don't bend the knee to "no spoilers!" requests. Especially since these are the network's own previews, I feel those are fair game. But I'll stop talking about them in this case. Sorry.

Holy fuck, holy fuck, holy fuck. That was intense.

So much shit has gone, as Philip said, topsy-turvy.

Oleg picked up by the FBI...and then confides to Stan the truth of his mission, even if he doesn't turn on the Jennings.

Elizabeth killed Tatiana in order to save the ambassador's life...and Claudia quietly curses Elizabeth to almighty hell.

Father Andrei is toast...and Philip was nearly picked up by FBI, but still on the run with Elizabeth following suit.

Paige finally lost her shit with Elizabeth...and called her mother a whore!

The Americans has always been a very tense show, but it's always done it on a low-key level, so I was floored to see a brief foot chase and such a vicious fight between Paige and Elizabeth. Those were just the bullet points but obviously there is so much more to unpack from this episode and it's going to take awhile to properly process it all. Suffice to say, I was cursing at my screen when the credits rolled after Elizabeth fled the laundry room with the emergency escape bag. Fuuuuucccckkkk...

I swear to all of the gods, holy and unholy, that if The Americans doesn't win every major Emmy Award, I'm going to riot.

Plus we got wonderful cameos from Father Tim and Agent Wolfe. Is it too much to hope for a Martha cameo in the series finale?

I can't believe there's only one more ep left.
I did think with it being so close to the end that Phil was going to get caught. Also if they are going on the run what's going to happen to Henry?

I thought that Philip was going to be captured for a second there. But the FBI guys were a little too slow.

I think Paige may be out of the spy game now. That scene between her and Elizabeth was intense. Keri Russell deserves and Emmy for her performance this season. It'll be a crime if she doesn't.

Stan is so close now...will the Jennings elude him? I do hope we get a confrontation scene between him and Philip. That should be intense.
