The Americans is Delightful.

That was a.. shock.

What exactly is Mr. FBI taking photos of in their house? Just randomly photographing the kitchen?

That wasn't their house. That was Martha's place. He was searching Martha's apartment while the other agent was taking her out to dinner.

^^^ Don't feel bad, I was feeling kind of confused about what was going on there too. I think FBI dude acting weird around Paige there at the end, coupled with their collective suspicion of Martha caused some reasonable audience cognitive dissonance in the setting. I chalk it up to bad editing and scene placement.

Meanwhile, poor Nina... :(

What was the point of Nina's shitty boring story this season, if they knew that this was going to be her shitty boring end?

Was wondering that myself. Unless they're starting to embrace the Game of Thrones philosophy of pointless and random death.

Just watched it. Holy shit, I thought that might happen this season, but not like it did so suddenly. I'm guessing this will have a profound affect on Oleg, and maybe Stan, if/when they find out. Maybe that's why they spent so much time with Nina this season, only to kill her now. Although her story might have become boring, the suddenness of her death was not.

Oleg will never know, his daddy will tell him she's far away and safe and it would endanger her to have someone from her old traitorous life contacting her.

We will now replace Nina's riveting Russian narrative with an equally tedious one of Oleg wandering around a grey Moscow thinking about baseball games and american beer.

Oh I think Oleg will find out. Maybe not soon, but he will one day. The concept of what Oleg might do when he finds out is too juicy for the writers to pass up.

Which gets me thinking, the more I watch the show, the more I think Oleg is my favorite character.

I liked Nina! :(

And yes Oleg will get his revenge. Maybe pair up with Beaman again. Maybe even defect.

After he defects, will he turn in the Jennings? That would be interesting watching Stan react to that. LOL

Martha is doomed.

I laughed my ass off at the whole "Oscar Romero was my mentor" thing, that was genius on their part to play into the "sandalista" sympathies of left wing christians of that time (yes I know Romero and the Sandinistas were in El Salvador and Nicaragua respectively). But you know Phillip and Elizabeth have one huge thing going against them in their earnest plea to be seen as meaningful revolutionaries: their own personalities. They are cold as fuck. And in the end Pastor Tim is going have that coldness sticking in his craw whenever he thinks about them and it will never ever sit quite right.

Well, they're cold as themselves. Oddly, Elizabeth has no problem being fun and likable when she's, say, playing that Asian woman while posing as a Mary Kay salesperson . ...

Not sure we've ever seen Phillip play a warm person, even in disguise.

I'm telling you, Oleg is going to defect.

Poor Martha is now on meds and coming apart. I feel sorry for her. Phillip really screwed her life up. I don't think the Center is going to do anything to help her. Send her in with a camera? WTF? Was he even listening to what Phillip was saying?

Martha is dead woman walking. I really don't see her making it out of this season alive. I can see her overdosing on pills and dying. She may see that as her only way out.

I would not be surprised if Oleg defects. I see the anger against his government's treatment of his brother and Nina increasing to the point where he wants to cause it damage. If he turns in Philip and Elizabeth I can see the last season with them on the run trying to escape out of the country,

Honestly, I'm amazed that Martha has survived as long as she has.

In a way, her current situation is similar to Nina's back in the day. Her handler is concerned for her personal well-being and worried about her being exposed as a traitor, but his superior is more concerned with getting maximum value out of a valuable asset.

That conversation Philip had with Gabriel about Martha? Pretty much the same conversation Stan used to regularly have with Richard Thomas concerning Nina's increasingly precarious position.

"Well, of course, we'll do our best to protect her, if and when it comes to that, but in the meantime we still need the intelligence she's providing us . .."

And we all know how well that worked out for Nina.

Wow. Martha is so so so so fucked. How terrible that in her moment of rebellion against all the control exerted over her she signs her own death warrant.

What did Phillip expect.. that she would just be happy being sent off to Moscow? Never to see him again? You can't save people who don't want your brand of salvation. She is doomed :(

Great episode, I love how it kept that whole story going with no b story distractions.
