The Amazing Race 19 - Season Discussion

firehawk they green light another season of CHina Rush, so there will be a third of that series, and a second Australian addition (which I really can rave enough about).

I'm hoping Australia comes to Canada this time around. That rumoured map turned out to be false. :(

I'll bet the producers are kicking themselves for that double elimination leg after one (and almost both!) of their celebrity teams got eliminated so early.

So the only two teams I was really rooting for so far are out of the race tonight, awesome. The editing was really obvious in this episode (well, most episodes). I called the two teams going home only a few minutes in, when they started telling more of their backstories and showing both teams talking about how certain they were of winning.

I am finding it tough to really care about this season, especially now that these two teams left. It's still early, but I don't really like any of the other teams like I thought I would. I guess the snowboarders are my next pick to win.

My wife pointed that out too, while I remained oblivious.

I'm not sure who I'm rooting for yet. It usually takes about 4 episodes before I decide who I like, but I can tell you right now that I hate the brother/sister team that are always yelling at each other.
This show is a great way to kill an hour on a Sunday night, but I'm just not feeling it anymore.

Considering that only a few teams correctly read the sign telling them to give all of their money to the orphanage, I'm thinking it might have been a little to obscure. But it might serve as a good lesson to teams that they need to take some time and read the clues more carefully.

The cheating is back in the Race. Last night the snowboarders blatently gave the answer to the task to another team. In the scheme of things, it didn't help the other team, but, this sort of thing really turned me off from the last race so it was highly disapointing to see it again. The snowboarders should have received some sort of penalty to, if nothing else, send a message to the other teams not to do this in the future. Sadly, it seems the negative response to the cheat filled Unnfinshed Business Race has had no effect on the producers.

lol, damn you, Skywalker, for a moment I was stumped and thought either I'm going mad or this is a super-weird glitch in the forum software that I post something and it shows up as being posted by someone else, before I scrolled up a bit.

I was just about to open up an embarassing thread in QSF asking how this can happen but then checked the thread again. ;)

Aaaaand here we go again. Yet again, CBS delays it with sports. I've grown tired of this shit, and getting 15-20 minutes of an episode recorded, so I'm outta here. For the first time since I started actively watching Amazing Race, back in season 3 or 4, I'm done. Even the Family Edition wasn't enough ... but my season pass has been deleted.

Good-bye, Amazing Race, and anything else CBS theoretically airs on Sunday nights. Hello, hour of my life back.

You should know better by now than to expect TAR to air on time during football season. CBS can't cut away from the football games for contractual reasons.

Then they can change the season in which the show airs. Or they can pad the schedule by an hour or so. The padded schedule is something I've actually mentioned to my local affiliate years ago, though we see nothing has been done about it.

But it's obvious which market they care about. It's strictly sports fans, with everyone else a far distant second.

You could always move to the west coast. Football ends well before Amazing Race out here, even with my local affiliate inexplicably running everything an hour early. So I get Amazing Race at 7 PM with no interruptions, very nice. But when basketball season rolls around there are delays all over the place...I fricken hate basketball.

Seriously could you be any more wrong. Ratings as a whole for CBS are always, always stronger a nights with a sports overrun. Not just football. But 60 minutes, TAR, even the 9pm shows gets some small help.

The only show negatively impacted in any measurable degree is the 10 pm hour (which is generally the worst performer of the night to begin with).

It's a huge, huge, huge win for CBS. It brings more eyes to their programs then any weekly program they air.

More eyes mean more exposure.

Padded programming geared to put the shows on even half hours or hours wouldn't help them as a whole. It gives you a perfect window to switch to the other networks. This is not sound business, when networks are desperate to keep the eyes on their programming.

And they publish email and text alerts as soon as football is over so you can adjust your plans. Not to mention that devices since the 70's have allowed people to record programs and watch at a later time at their own convenance.
