I called the two teams going home only a few minutes in, when they started telling more of their backstories and showing both teams talking about how certain they were of winning. Then they can change the season in which the show airs. Or they can pad the schedule by an hour or so. The padded schedule is something I've actually mentioned to my local affiliate years ago, though we see nothing has been done about it.
But it's obvious which market they care about. It's strictly sports fans, with everyone else a far distant second.
Football ends well before Amazing Race out here, even with my local affiliate inexplicably running everything an hour early. So I get Amazing Race at 7 PM with no interruptions, very nice.
