You know what I find amusing?

Kirk was supposed to be Mr. Ladies' Man--the awesome guy that girls would fall for.

And yet...he isn't exactly #1, as far as the female vote seems to be concerned....

I voted for Bashir and it had everything to do with looks, smarts, and willingness to stand up to creepy Section 31 types (while still keeping secrets from Odo). Nothing to do with the Our Man Bashir silliness. I also liked his sense of humor. And Siddig is just hot.

Ah.

And...for those reasons, too.

Since, on second read, it kind of sounds like I AM talking about the Our Man Bashir stuff ... let's just say I'm much more into adorable genius Lieutenants who tell Admirals off and use "illegal" means to do whats morally right than suave guys in tuxedos popping champagne corks into people's heads and kissing girls to get keys.

I am a bit surprised by Bashir's result. Handsome as Siddig is, I never got an impression that Bashir was a huge sex symbol in the Trek fandom.

Well...it may have something to do with the "James Bond" air he adopted with "Our Man Bashir", and kept for much of the remainder of the series....

For example, in "Badda-Bang..." he order a Vodka Martini. Granted, he gets the "Shaken, not stirred" mixed up--but in his defense, it HAD to be stirred, so that Ezri could mix the hurl-inducer in....

And of course...there's the classic scene in the beginning of the finale....;)

No, I see why you'd like him... I was just saying that I was never under the impression that Bashir was a huge sex symbol in Trek fandom. Whereas, for instance, Spock's popularity with female Trekkies for the last 40 odd years is very well known. :)

I do not see the attraction to Nikki DeBoer among all the others... but there you go. Nikki'c cute, but I wouldn't say she's beautiful or sexy.

Seven and Ezri are neck and neck. If Seven makes it to 50 before Ezri, I'm going to start a riot! :klingon:

Natch. Because there's Spock, of course.

Just as women/girls who were fans of the Beatles back in the day could be readily divided into Paul girls, John girls, George girls or Ringo girls, so women/girls who are fans of TOS are either Kirk girls or Spock girls (with, presumably, a few McCoy, Sulu or Chekov girls in the mix - I never heard of any Scotty girls, but hey, anything's possible). This it was, and thus it is, and thus, I suspect, it always shall be.

For the Beatles, I am fairly confident that there were roughly equal numbers of Paul girls and John girls, with George girls (I was always a George girl) coming in third and Ringo girls fourth. For Trek, I never have known if there were more Kirk girls or Spock girls...but judging from the numbers of Spock girls I've encountered since I started coming here, I wouldn't be too surprised if there are more of us than there are of Kirk girls.

But seriously, both Kirks are extremely good looking and and sexy and charismatic and have enormous numbers of female fans. And who can blame them? Not me, even though I've always been a Spock girl. Always. Some of us simply prefer Paul to George or George to John, and a few will always go for Ringo. This it was, and thus it is, and thus, I suspect, it always shall be.

From what I've seen of various online forums, Spock girls have always vastly outnumbered Kirk girls.

In the meantime, while Seven and Ezri are still tied at the top with 44 points, we have an interesting development on the men's side: the two Spocks are tied again, with 31 points - and the two Kirks are also tied, both with 17! And congratulations to TOS Scotty for getting his first vote!

Ezri and Seven STILL neck and neck. C'mon new voters!

I call for a new thread: Un-Sexiest Star Trek Character. :)

^Nice idea:

"Mirror, mirror, on the wall...who's the DULLEST of them all...?"

But seriously--yeah, we DO need more voters. I think most folks are either done, or exhausted....

There have GOT to be more Ezri fans out there. I mean, they're rarely anywhere else on the Net, as DevilEyes pointed out....

Well, since it is your idea, why don't you start it? :)

I can see that thread generating some very heated debates ("Whaaaat? Are you serious? How can you call XY unsexy?"), people voting for characters they hate whether they actually consider them unsexy or not, and a huge discussion on what constitutes unsexy and whether it refers to ugly, boring, annoying or just generally impossible to relate to anything sexual...

Either way, I think Neelix will definitely win. With Rom a strong contender.

You'd be suprised at how many gals apparently consider Rom sexy....

Not me, blerg. :rommie:

But Spock being sexier than Kirk is one of those immutable truisms of Star Trek.

I think if we could sort the votes male vs female, Spock would come out ever further ahead of Kirk on female votes alone.

I can't believe poor EMH is the only one with no votes! There are many characters less sexy than him. :(

^Oh, I dunno.

You'd be suprised at how many gals apparently consider Rom sexy....

Leeta, for instance. :)
Hm, well, Anika Hanson (the poster, not 7 of 9) did mention she found Rom cute...

I'm not sure Leeta is admissable as evidence - I mean, Voyager tried to convince us that Kes finds Neelix attractive, and even though there's no accounting for tastes, I refuse to believe anyone in the world can find Neelix sexy. :vulcan:

My list of top 10 unsexiest Trek characters
(and it's my list... so don't complain if your favorite is on it...)

1. Neelix
2. Rom
3. Harry Mudd
4. Legate Parn from DS9 "The Maquis" (some people really should never wear the Cardassian uniform :cardie:)
5. Grand Nagus Zek
6. Wesley Crusher (you don't need to be ugly to be unsexy)
7. Doohan's Scotty in the movies
8. Koenig's Pavel Chekov (yes, you heard me! Sorry - he had a pretty face, but that has little to do with sex appeal)
9. Harry Kim (had al the personality and charisma of an average lamp post)
10. any random drunken Klingon background character

honorable mention: Geordie LaForge (sorry, Geordie - you're not ugly or annoying, just kind of loser and a bit boring)

+ The list would probably include someone from Enterprise, but I haven't seen much of it
