^SWEET!!!

That's right, folks--Seven and Ezri are TIED for First, 40 each!

Jadzia's still in Third--and STILL three points behind her successor!

T'Pol's still in Fourth. No change--still 34.

And...sorry, Spock-Gals, but it looks like Kira's holding on to the Fifth-place seat, with 30.

For now....;)

Well, I don't really see the men and women as competing with each other... somehow I don't think that the same people are voting for both, with few exceptions. :) And we know what the m/f ratio on the forum is...

In other news, it's interesting to see that, after being behind for so long, nuKirk has caught up and taken the lead over TOS Kirk!

^I...think that may have something to do with our being used to a fat Shat. ;)

But he was fat when the voting started, too! :rommie:

Seriously though... I think that the results are becoming more similar to what I'd expect as more and more people vote... Which is not surprising - the larger the sample, the more representative the results will be of the overall trends. For instance - I remember that at the beginning, Kirks had a lead over Spocks, but with more people voting, Spocks raced ahead.

One of my few surprises is that Data has so few votes - he was always very popular with female Trek fans.

^ Really? Never with me. I mean, I like Data just fine, but "sexiest"? Heck, no.
I only ever found him cute, not sexy, but a lot of girls were always into Data... from my schoolmates back in the day when we watched TNG, to some female Trek fans I know who say they had a crush on him while growing up, to some other Trek forums/groups (on a Trek group on last.fm, there's a 'Sexiest Star Trek character' thread - and I swear, I did not start that one! - and Data is doing as well as Spock). It's not really surprising - you know, he's nerdy-cute and sweet, and the whole Pinocchio "I want to be human" thing makes him lovable. And Brent Spiner looked good in the Starfleet uniform when he was younger. I get the impression (though I might be wrong) that Data is the favorite of younger TNG female fans, while the more mature ones are mainly into Picard. :)

^Yeah--something about bald being beautiful....
Nah, it's probably the deep Shakesperean voice, the surprisingly fit body, and the aura of authority. He never actually did it for me, but I can see why someone would be attracted to him. (Not when I first watched TNG, though... but that was when I was about 13...He was just an old, bald guy back then.)

^ Yep, there you go. I have a thing for deep voices anyway. That's part of Nimoy's appeal, of course.

But Data never did a thing for me...not even when I was younger. I see what you mean about "nerdy-cute," DevilEyes, but to me, the "cute" part just...isn't.

I'm surprised Riker isn't doing better. I never liked him at all (despite the deep voice ;) ), but lots of other women did. And even I gotta admit that the guy's purty.

I had a crush on him when I first watched TNG... as I said, I was about 13. But these days...not so much. Well, he was quite hot before he got really fat, and if I had to pick someone from the TNG cast I'd pick him, but I don't know... :-/ Maybe I get a little turned off by 1) his progressive weight gain and 2) een more so, because most of his, eh, romantic scenes on the show were so cringeworthy.

^ Oh, I know exactly what you mean. He was supposed to be Romance Incarnate, so his love scenes shouldn't have made me want to giggle, right?

My problem with Riker is the beard. I liked him a LOT better without it.

You know...now that I think of it, I think Gul Macet is the only character with facial hair that I find attractive! Now if we could just get him into a modern uniform, I'd be all set. ;)

BTW...on Gul Macet's beard....

Frankly, it took a remark from Nerys Ghemor to make me realize that it was a beard--and not a facial appendage...or something....

Okay. Scores update!
Ladies and Gentlemen...WE HAVE A NEW LEADER!!!

Ezri is now ahead once again, with 41--putting Seven in second, one point behind....

Jadzia is STILL precisely three points behind Ezri--and is still in Third.

T'pol's still in Fourth...with 34.

And...Kira, still Fifth, 30.

Uh...wow.

Of course, if you see it in an actual pic of him, and not a sketch, it's obvious it's a beard. But if you're thinking about that sketch, yeah, I must admit that thing was kinda--sketchy on the details, if you'll excuse the pun. ;)

^Ah...obvious to a Cardassian, perhaps....

Really--I honestly thought it was some odd thing from the makeup artists....

Yeah. I thought the dark areas were shadows indicating creases in his face, or something. It just didn't register that it was a beard....

My bad.

(And yeah--I know all about the new scores. I just don't wanna do it so close to my last update....

Glad to see Ezri's lead increasing, though! ;))

Well, I do have a fan theory about the facial hair...and other things...

It's my theory that Macet, Daro, and Telle belong to an ethnic minority...I actually think of them as the equivalent of Australia's aborigines: geographically isolated for a long time, and have their own distinct features. One of them is the ability for the men to grow facial hair, which the more populous majority does not have.

^ Do we know for sure that Cardassians generally don't have facial hair? I don't remember anything ever being implied either way.

Was there anything mentioned, or do people just think that they don't have facial hair (and body hair?) because of their reptilian-like skin? But in that case, they should not have hair on their heads, either, and they do. :-/

It depends. Even with humans some groups have more hair than others, and I think there may well be some ethnic groups (correct me if I'm wrong) where men either don't get much facial hair, or none at all.

^Wow. Of all the subjects to veer this thread off course....

Okay. I'd say it's time for an update:

Ezri is in the lead, with 43 votes.

Seven's in second, with 41.

Jadzia's in third--39...

T'Pol retains fourth--35...

And...Kira's still in fifth, with 31.
