The ACTUAL Enterprise G

It's only marginally better than the 'I want everything to be a constitution class' fetish that saturated the writing but only marginally, the design is pretty dull.

If I were to pick a pre-existing design for a (much later 25th century) Enterprise-G I would go with that Chimer class that pops up in a couple of places.

It's time to Stop the Confusion Already; The Actual Canon Enterprise G was designed by DJ Curtis long before 'Picard'.
What They gave to Captain Seven is still The Titan A with Incorrect Registry.
Well, then:

First of all welcome and Merry Christmas.

Secondly, that's not how canon works.

Finally, who is this DJ person and why should I care?

The Enterprise G decision was stupid because Star Trek writers have a fetish with the name ENTERPRISE for stupid reasons but I don't think this random art bit is actually helpful.

I mean, the Enterprise (the original) is an American icon, part of a franchise that spans 60 years. It's name is synonymous with "Star Trek" more than space station Deep Space Nine or the Voyager, or the Discovery or the Cerritos, etc.

I do think Enterprise - G is ridiculous, as is the E and F. The whole lettering thing was novel when we got the "A" and later the "D". Beyond that it just seems stupid. Can't wait till we get the Enterprise - U

I mean, yes, it's iconic. So...we keep using that forever? Because, that's stupid to me.

That's fair. But at the end of the day, this is a business venture that costs millions and not some youTube video made by some rando on the internet. Familiarity sells. It's why the franchise keeps churning out one starship based show after another instead of doing something different like Deep Space Nine.

Again, I am not denying it.

It's an understandable decision. It's also stupid. It's taking one element and saying "THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE STAR TREK!" and sometimes it wears thin in my extremely humble estimation. Of course I'll acknowledge I'm in a minority, who doesn't regard the ENTERPRISE as something special that must be present to enjoy Star Trek. Hell, one of my favorite films doesn't involve an ENTERPRISE until the last scene: THE VOYAGE HOME.

To be honest, I don't think the name bothers me as much as the "1701 - the alphabet" part. It just seems ridiculous the more we travel down the alphabet. The name "Enterprise" feels right to me, but I don't *need* it as the name of the hero ship all the time. Or even part of the time.

Actually, It's exposing The Reality of The Real Design
Soooo, a fan-design? DJ Curtis himself doesn't seem too fussed, he's just appreciative that people like his art.

Fans have been designing alphabet soup Enterprises since the 80's, it doesn't make them any more real.
