The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

Wave 3 of Mission Series just hit my area.

I saw the new Bespin Luke/Vader and Obi-Wan/General Grievous sets ay my local Target earlier today. Not bad for the 5-POA figures they are, and Grievous actually has 7 POA (his wrists or elbows apparently swivel to recreate his lightsaber spinning/slashing action seen in Episode III, so that's something in these cheaper lines).

They're two of the more impressive Mission Series figure sets.

Pre-orders of Black Series (3.75") Wave 4 are beginning to arrive in the hands of some online collectors. Brick-and-mortar retail for this assortment will probably be in July, but as with most Hasbro Star Wars product the last couple of years your own local mileage will vary.

The six figures in Wave 4 (packed two each) are:

Bastila Shan (Vintage Collection repack with paint app differences)
Dagobah Training Luke Skywalker
Dagobah Training Yoda
Toryn Farr
Snowtrooper Commander
Dak Ralter (Vintage Collection repack with paint app differences)

I was finally able to find a couple older DC Universe Classics figures from way back in 2008 that had long eluded me at a decent price. They're two of my favorite characters, and the figures are both still two of the best made in the line. Here's Nightwing and his archnemesis Deathstroke:

Thor likes Earth sweets too much. Now he's attacking his fellow Shelf Avengers to get them!

Poor Black Knight! :( And the horrors of the day weren't over yet...Rory attacked him.

At least he didn't lose a limb this time.

SO WHERE IN THE HELL IS EVERYONE?

We have all seen the big multifigure dioramas, from GIJoe collectors to the big Stormtrooper scene in Return of the Jedi, right?

The Enterprise had a crew of 420 in ToS, right?

So it would be safe to assume that it still had a crew of 420 in TMP, right?

So when Kirk said assemble the crew on the rec deck, shouldn't there be 420 people there?

Being in the process of making a set of molds from the small Mego figures, I started to wonder, how hard would it be to recreate this scene? So, I counted, and I came up with 200 to 230, roughly. Granted, the room was almost full at that, which makes me wonder where everyone else was. Were they watching on various screens throughout the ship? Did they have 2 groups in the rec deck? Would make it kind of awkward for the second group after what happened.

CCC.

I think the refit has a larger compliment. But with the Enterprise still in the testing phase and leaving drydock early, they may have only had a skeleton crew aboard.

The Topps trading cards from ST:TMP's original theatrical run list the refitted Enterprise's crew complement at 432 for whatever that's worth. I don't know if it comes from Roddenberry and the other producers themselves but I always sort of assumed that the refitted Constitution-class starships had roughly the same crew complement as the TOS configuration.

You may be right. My number comes from Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise which lists 428 enlisted and 72 officers (500 total).

Hawkeye and Black Widow, together at last!

They have some catching up to do.

Also- I read Original Sins #2- the first part was about the Black Knight. He spent the whole issue in his underpants. So my Black Knight is comparing asses:

"Does this cape make my ass look big?" :p

dunno if you know or not, but Black Knight also showed up in Avengers World #8. looks like he will be in future issues for the duration of the story.

It sucks that he was so important in the Avengers in the 80's and 90's, but has more or less been reduced to cameos in other titles. It's like Marvel doesn't know what to do with him. He found his niche in MI-13, but that title only lasted 15 issues. :(

i know. the Roger Stern era with Black Knight, Hercules, Namor and She Hulk was my favorite. i just hate that there are a half dozen Avengers books out and none of them have a place for guys like Black Knight or Vision.

MI 13 was such a good book too.
