The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

I was just in a Disney store and they didn't have them. They are having a special even in the Disney stores on May 4th to celebrate Star Wars, they are giving out limited edition pins to the first 100 guest on that day. So if you're interested, get to your local Disney store early that day.

My local Disney Store shut down four years ago. The next-closest store is located down in North Carolina. Still, best wishes to any collectors and fans who attend their local stores' festivities and get some cool swag from the event.

Tasha has taken up cross stitching after watching me stitch! Clint likes to watch her.

You can tell they're superheroes. Only someone with those kinds of powers can use a needle that big. Nice. :)

There've been a few items from Enterprise, but not many. The Original and Next Gen characters (including nuTrek timeline counterparts) are the characters Paramount is most focused on marketing, and there's a part of me that can't really blame them. As much as I and others like or even love the other parts of the franchise there are far more people around the world who recognize the names Kirk and Picard than there are who do Sisko, Janeway or Archer.

That doesn't mean they shouldn't produce more merchandise and collectibles based on the three other series because that'd just be smart given how vast and eclectic the Trek fanbase is, but the names Kirk, Spock and Picard do more to sell the franchise than any others. I wouldn't mind seeing a new line of toys based on Enterprise.

New addition to the Shelf Avengers! Psylocke has arrived.

Clint: What, are we being taken over by the X-Men now?
Steve: Shut it, Barton. Welcome, Miss Braddock!

Captain Britain: BETSY! I thought you were dead (again)!
Psylocke: Hi, baby brother!
Clint: Huh? I thought they were twins.
Tasha: She was born first.

Psylocke: Oh, Pete. What happened?
Wisdom: Long story. Pryde isn't coming, too, is she?
Psylocke: Yeah, she is...
Wisdom: Damn! I don't want her to see me like this. And if she brings that flying rat, he'll eat me!

Sorry for the double post, but I got an early surprise in the mail today. The X-Men invasion of the Shelf Avengers continues with the arrival of Kitty Pryde! Kitty and Pete Wisdom were a couple a long time ago...

Brian: Pete, look who's here!
Wisdom: Hullo Pryde.
Kitty: You haven't changed at all, Pete!
Wisdom: Hardy fucking har.

Wisdom: Don't ask me what happened, still not sure meself. And please, no jokes about the size of me manhood, either! Did you bring the flying rat with you?

Kitty: He's right behind you!
Wisdom: BLOODY HELL.
Lockheed: I still 'ate yoo!
Wisdom: Told you he could talk.

Lockheed: And now I'm gonna eat yoo!
Kitty: Aw, Lockheed, be nice.
Wisdom: At least I don't have cigarettes for him to steal. Gave 'em up.
Kitty: Yay!

I have a girl's night out planned now that I have four ladies!

I'll probably add Nightcrawler and Black Knight to the family eventually. I forgot that Black Knight was an Avenger at one time!

Heh. Part of me can't have too much sympathy for Pete.

Pete could be a dick but he loved Kitty. She really hurt him in the comics. :( And Lockheed was always torturing him!

I added a couple more members to my DC Collectibles Crime Syndicate. Here's Owlman and Deathstorm, the evil Earth 3 versions of Batman and Firestorm:

Had one major issue with these: Owlman's knees were assembled upside-down. I had to boil and pop them, and then flip into the proper orientation.

Also, Deathstorm is doing something a little different for DCC. He has the same elbow articulation as Owlman, but it's hidden underneath a sleeve of what looks like either a very soft plastic or vinyl. It keep the look of his arm, but I worry how it will hold up over time. It also restricts the lateral movement of his arm considerably.

Issues aside, I'm very pleased with these figures. I need to pick up Ultraman, Superwoman, and Johnny Quick to complete the team. I wish DCC would make a Grid, but that doesn't look to be in the cards.

^Nice! The William and Kate wedding dolls are really well done.

Ladies night! Black Widow, Sif, Pyslocke, and Kitty have a night of drinking, bitching about their men (or lack of), and mocking poor Hawkeye's portrait.

ETA: Black Knight is ordered!

Those Royal dolls look superb. Kate in the blue dress and the Diana dolls are the ones that catch my eye the most (though that second William down on the right really nails his face and smile).

Four superheroines drinking? This should be entertaining. :)

I just had a great idea for my Black Knight figure when he arrives...there is, of course, another famous Black Knight, the loony who gets all his limbs cut off by King Arthur in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I could re-enact the scene with Captain Britain and the Black Knight!

That is...if his limbs can come off and easily be put back on...

So I had to get the Iron Man mk42 the other to join Iron Patriot, who now both join my random collection. Basically everyime I go into Forbidden Planet now there's always something I can't resist
