The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

And just remember: these are just the first three pictures. There are many more to go, and if these were this great then you need to get some popcorn and fasten your seatbelt!

I will certainly do another Christmas photoplay next year, but I don't know if I'll have another 12 days in me.

Todays will be late, since I'll be away from home most of the day. I've got a certain film about a person of short stature to see.

Early Christmas present for Thor! The Lady Sif joins my Avengers shelf.

Screw MCU canon. I'm going for Norse mythology canon! Sif kicks ass.

Double date with Clint and Tasha!

I see many new adventures in the future.

Sif is so much cooler than Jane, anyways. Give me the ass kicking warrior woman any day.

Sorry for the delay. Here's our next day:

I just found this very cool montage of every basic-carded Kenner Star Wars figure from the legendary 12-Backs of 1978 straight through the Power of the Force (silver collector's coin) line of 1985 that brought the classic Kenner era of SW figures to an end (the animated Droids and Ewoks figures were concurrent and followed, but they weren't movie-related action figures based on the Saga and had brief, limited runs).

Thought this might be a fun, colorful trip down memory lane for some of you. It is for me.

^Is there a higher res version of that?

Here's more of your daily dose of Christmas cheer:

EDIT: Whoops! I forgot one of the Ashes. That's fixed.

That image is the only resolution and copy that I saw. I wish it were a little more crisp and sharp myself, but even as this resolution it looks pretty cool and I did the count - it appears they did indeed include every carded figure from the beginning to the end unless you count the Ewoks and Droids figures, which some don't include with the live-action film characters.

They even remembered to include the 1985 Anakin Skywalker and Yak Face, which were not sold in American stores and were only available on the blister cards in other countries.

BTW: love the Catwoman figures.

Oh my... I had a number of these, especially the ones from "Return of the Jedi". My favorite was the Yoda from "Empire". I carried him absolutely everywhere but lost him somewhere at the San Diego Zoo when I was seven. It IS fun... but kind of sad. Damn, we are old aren't we.

As for my recent action figure collecting, I haven't done very much. I thought about getting the new Diamond Select Thor and Jane but I wasn't all that interested in adding them. I have the last version of Thor they did and the sculpt of Jane in the blue dress didn't interest me all that much. She should be kicking ass not looking like a damsel in distress. I did purchase the last two waves of the Star Wars 6-inch Black Series and have the third on preorder. I am disappointed in the selection for wave three but I am still buying it. And just an FYI, the Boba Fett in wave two is AMAZING. I think he may be my favorite so far in the line. I have also preordered the 5-inch John Hurt to go with my Doctor Who collection. I also added Rory and Amy to the companion collection. I wish they would hurry up and release a Clara at the 5-inch scale though. It just seems weird to have all the modern companions (plus River, Jack, and Sarah Jane) and Clara not be there.

OdoWan's one of the most creative people I've ever met on this board and has such a joy for collecting and toys. He's great.
