The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

have any of you ever valued your collection? and if so would you ever sell it off?

into this, what is your MOST treasured item.

(and why)

I pretty much collect for my own enjoyment. Most of my action figures have been played with- my nephew was fond of my Trek figures- so they're pretty much worthless! :p

My dolls, on the other hand- I have a couple of Madame Alexander and Gene dolls that were very limited. If I take good care of them, they could be worth some serious cash!

Tragedy struck my collection today, as Martian Manhunter apparently decided to end his own life and took a dive from the shelf. His right leg snapped right off. It's superglued back on, but that's not good enough. Time to look for another MM on the cheap, I guess.

Poor J'onn. Maybe he saw his New 52 counterpart? :)

Ahhhh and I get my answer about AOTC 3D. Interesting. Both AOTC and ROTJ 3D in the same year.

That sucks, man. Sorry to hear that.

I've had several Star Wars figures topple over or accidentally get stepped on and wind up with loose or detached limbs or heads. Some characters are so flimsy and lightweight(Battle Droids and Geonosians from the prequels for example) that the slightest impact can knock their ability to stand up straight or even keep a limb straight and erect completely out of whack. And don't get me started on the figures so droopy that even if you put them on stands look like they need Toy Viagra a little while later.

Glad you were able to repair him.

Well, repaired as far as it was a clean break and his leg is on. His articulation obviously won't work any more, though. Oh well. At least he doesn't seem like he's one that's too hard to find if I want to get another that still is in one piece. If it had been, say one of my Hot Toys figures that had taken such a tumble, I would probably be curled up in the fetal position right now.

A closer inspection of my shelf indicates this was not an attempted suicide, it was an attempted murder! Black Canary is the one that actually fell forward. Aquaman was able to survive her assault, but J'onn was not so lucky. Oh Dinah, how could you? :(

I'm surprised that it broke so easily

Was it a Mattel or DC Direct figure?

OMG the very thought of breaking a Hot Toys figure would make me nearly catatonic. You should have some sort of shield around each one to prevent just such an occurence.

The 3-D screen release dates for the next two films in the Star Wars Saga, as officially confirmed by Lucasfilm at the just-concluded Celebration VI festivities:

Episode II: Attack of the Clones September 20, 2013
Episode III: Revenge of the Sith October 11, 2013

There will be just three weeks between the two premieres, much like the 1997 Special Editions of the Original Trilogy were released in theaters just a few weeks or so apart from one another.

It was the Mattel version. It surprised me, too, since I've never had a DCUC figure break like that. Must have just been a crazy freak occurrence. Had it been a DC Direct, I would have been less surprised. They're far more brittle.

I went ahead and ordered the set of Avengers minis, even though I already have two of them. I'll never get the rest otherwise! Luckily, it was cheaper than I thought it would be, and I should have it by Thursday. :D

what is the most treasured/valued star trek merchandise?

Probably the 1970s Mego action figures in unopened, near-mint or mint packaging.

The all-new Mara Jade 3.75" action figure being released next year. Some people aren't responding very happily to her hair(a separate molded piece and not part of the rest of her head) but I don't think it looks bad at all. I really like this new sculpt.
