The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

This morning's score at my friend's shop:

I am a Star Blazers/Robotech/Mechwarrior/Battletech collector. I have probably close to 2000 Mechwarrior/Battletech mechs. I have a few Space Cruiser Yamato ships and a whole bunch of books and even two old Japanese Records from the show. I many figures and veritech fighters and mecha from the Robotech series also.

Right now the room I keep them in is cluttered with unopened boxes of stuff I bought but haven't had time to open yet.

Pics!!!!

I saw that! Looks like this Snowtrooper might be amazing!

Looks like I started getting into wanting Sideshow and Hot Toys stuff at the right time! All the good stuff's coming down the pike!

The Vintage Tarkin is horrific. I suspect a re-do when ANH 3-D comes around, much like that awful Jedi Luke a year or two before The Vintage Collection.

Anyway, here in the UK we're still waiting for anything post TPM.

Tarkin's not as bad close-up and in person as he appears in photos, but yeah...he could have been done better given that Vintage is a premium collector's line and not aimed at kids. At least his Mouse Droid has actual rolling wheels and some small paint apps on the sides to show surface highlights!

You guys still haven't seen anything at all past Wave 1/TPM? These figures I just purchased are from Wave 5! That's just wrong! Have you even spotted the Deleted Scenes figures yet(Wave 2)?

I have a YouTube subscription to a young English guy with glasses who reviews figures in his collection and is always buying stuff at Forbidden Planet. He's gotten some of the newer figures, but I can't remember if he said he bought them from his local Forbidden Planet shop or gets them online.

I don't really have a local FB. It's a 45 minute drive to Liverpool or Manchester and then all the hassle of parking. I just wish TRU or Smyth's would get in the new waves.

According to my YouTube friend, Forbidden Planet "is like a narcotic." :) He says he can't do without it because it has all the stuff the retail stores don't. It's possible the Deleted Scenes, Darth Malgus and Dr. Evazan waves are showing up at your Forbidden Planets, but like you said...the nearest one's almost an hour away and that's a hassle.

Hot Toys teased a "The Dark Knight" Joker 2.0 release on their facebook page yesterday. It looked like the interrogation scene between Batman and Joker inside the GCPD headquarters.

Don't mention it! My useless, encyclopedic knowledge of these figures has to be good for something. Glad I could help. If there are any others you can't identify please feel free to take pics of them and let me take a look for you. ;)

Some new ones to identify. Random Star Wars figures that my brother bought from car boot sales.

I know the second from the left is Cade Skywalker (a descendant of Luke Skywalker about 140 years after Episode IV) from the Expanded Universe.

#2 is Cade Skywalker from a Comic Book 2-pack set, #3 is the McQuarrie Concept Luke Skywalker(an exclusive for the Star Wars Celebration IV convention not sold in retail stores) and #4 is a camouflaged AT-RT scout walker driver/pilot from the Kashyyyk(Wookiee homeworld)battle.

I'm not sure about #1, but if I had to guess it's a Kashyyyk Marine or Trooper from a Comic Book 2-pack set. Hope this helps!

I saw that, but the 2.0 would have to really wow me in for me to get it. As far as I'm concerned, Hot Toys has already nailed the Heath Ledger Joker:

Yeah, you stare into those eyes long enough and you do get creeped right the hell out.

They're just fantastic figures, though. :D
