The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

So, sorry I didn't get a twelve days in yesterday. There was something awakening yesterday that I had to see. ;)

Without further ado, here's our final installment:

I see a lot of green there!

This is absolutely, definitively the last one of these I will ever do. If I do something next year, it's probably going to be more in line with the carols from last year. That's it. Never, ever, ever again!

In that case, may I pick up the handle? You see, I counted the other day and it turned out that I may own 12 waltzing women and 11 kicking Kirks and 10 jumping Jacks and 9 dancing Doctors... and I realized I totally could do this as well. Who knew I had so many of one character? Even if I have to cheat with the archeologists with using both Indiana Jones and Daniel Jackson. But I totally could do this.

I belong to a German Doctor Who and Torchwood forum where each year we fill an advent calendar starting from December 1st with little Christmas related stories or pictures. I would have made it specifically for this calendar and not dared to post it anywhere else than in this small group, or if I do, at least give you credit for the original idea. Fair is fair. And I won't promise even half of the funny background action going on in yours, but I am intrigued by the idea.

PS: Anyone have a good accompanying word for "minis" and "Spocks"? "Mini Minis" sounds a bit like Manna Manna ;)

I would be thrilled to see someone else take it up. It's all yours, pal. Do me proud. :)

Don't worry, I'm not done playing around with my action figures. Another 12 days is just not feasible, though. It's easily the most exhausting thing I've done with them. Having to take that whole thing apart and reset it every day is a ridiculous time sink. Not to mention that since I've slowed down my collecting, there just won't be enough different stuff this time next year for another. I'm glad you guys enjoyed it.

Side note: that's not even close to all of my Hal Jordans. I may have a slight Green Lantern obsession.

Thank you, I'll do my best! I already counted figures that I plan yet to buy or that will only come out next year, but should be ready in time for Christmas.

You took off and rebuilt the set every day? Wow. I thought you shot all the individual pictures in advance and then just added to the complete set every day.

Haul of the day: I was in a shop and couldn't resist those eraser sets (with pencil and pencil sharpener) for 1 Euro each. Some fit the big figures, some the small ones. Even the cashier took a double look and asked: "Are those erasers?" Way too cute to erase anything with them ;)

Hey, don't worry about how many Hal Jordans you have. If you like your figures of the guy that's all that matters.

Now, if you're talking about a problem you should see my Battle Droid collection.

;)

Heh. That probably would have been smarter. I was actually flying by the seat of my pants for much of this. Days 8 and 10 I had no idea what I was doing until the day. That Hal with the armor is actually brand new. It just came out this past Wednesday.

Just a holiday pic to get you all into the right Christmas mood! The Doctor and Martha are decorating, Jack is supposed to hold the ladder but got disctracted by the Doctor's backside.
Last year I won first place in the December competition with this pic in our Facebook group Sixth Scale Universe.

That Spock is impressive! I'm sorely tempted to track one down!

I used this guy in my 12 days, but I am adoring this new DC Icons Hal Jordan so much that I just need to keep on taking pictures of him.

The Lantern is the nicest sculpt we've ever gotten in 6" scale. There's even transparent lenses inside, so you can shine light through it.

Of course it's not Hal without a fist construct.

The best part is the snap on armor construct, though. It gives him a truly unique look on the shelf.

I told myself I was only going to get Hal from this line, owing to the fact that the scale is a bit off from the rest of my DC figures, but man is he making me want some companions for him.

It's on preorder, coming out next April/May. Was just announced on December 18th.

While looking what else this company has done I also saw a Flash and a Superman in the same style - maybe as companions for your Hal?

Picked up this little gem..designed by Matt Jefferies, a fantastic kit and I always wanted this puppy..

I don't buy or collect D.C. or Marvel figures, but that new Green Lantern is pretty cool-looking.

Yeah, I'm interested now in part because he has the flight armor. It's a very creative accessory. :D

Something special arrived today. :adore:

He's pretty fun. it's the Japanese release, so his individual combiner robots have the additional articulation and paint apps. I gotta say, Scrapper actually having elbows makes that figure.

Cool. I've got the Hasbro version. I'm hoping we'll get a release of the full CW Groove figure that's planned for Takara Defensor, like they did for {Slingshot} and {Wildrider}. I do like Rook as a new mold, but I'd love to have a more G1 accurate version too.

Oddly enough, in recently looking at CW Bruticus... I can't help getting a "meh" feeling. I've always liked the Combaticons, but something just seems off. Can't quite put my finger on it.

Perhaps it's because he's 75% the same tooling as Defensor?

The Target-exclusive version sold in the toy department? The Sphero version BB-8 is, I believe, bigger.

He looks cool. Congrats on getting him!

Sphero is the small one. The Hasbro one is much bigger and has inscribed panel lines with weathering.
