The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

Holy crap, Sideshow and Hot Toys just want everyone to go broke, don't they?

Sideshow Collectibles is releasing a Legendary Scale (3-feet tall!) Mark 43 Iron Man as seen in AOU.

All for the low low price of $2300 (not including the non-refundable deposit and shipping, of course).

Man, am I increasingly glad I don't buy and collect anything from those lines. I know you get top-quality sculpts and features, but....wow.

Oh my God, that Iron Man is huge! I wouldn't know where to place him in my tiny apartment.

I envy anyone who has a special toy room.

Vina has arrived! I don't have a Pike figure yet but I think Kirk is happy with her as well. She is an elusive lady and hard to get!

NECA is releasing some new 7" DC figures, including Heath Ledger's Joker, Adams West's Batman, And Chris Reeve's Superman!

Pics

I definitely want that Superman. The DC Multiverse version from Mattel was just too small for my liking.

Happy Halloween! Or "Dolloween". My mini dolls are dressed up. They borrowed the costumes from my damaged Wee Patsy dolls.

An update to Julie and Ivy's costumes, they now have trick or treat bags!

Awesome Kira'sMummy! I hope they get lots of sweets ;)

Happy Halloween from me as well! The Doctor went to a shop to buy some stuff for a party, but the shop owner looks rather scary...

It's hard to look at those pics of Vina and Kirk and not hear her dancing music in the back of my head. What can I say, that music's catchy. :)

You are right, these ARE looking good. I think I'll get Superman and Batman as well. But why are they going for such high prices on ebay? According to this link they are not even out yet? Do you think the prices will come down once they are available everywhere? As £76.99 is not what I am willing to pay for a figure of that size. Must be 12" then.

These are the ones I have right now. No idea which brand as I got them used:

I don't think I have heard of NECA before? You really had to go and post that link, did you? *sigh* Because now I looked what else they do, and I see they do Terminators. Now I am very tempted by their T-1000 (and then there is the matter of not-even-NECA Indiana Jones I stumbled about on ebay while looking *double sigh* It's all your fault! LOL)

While I do have two Arnies I think they must be a different brand. They look slightly different. Does anyone know what these are? I seem to have misplaced the box.

The NECA Terminators seem to have a joint at the hips, and also the faces and weapons look different.

I'm not sure when they were released but both Terminator figures are from the same company. If you look at their pants both pair have identical folds and creases in the sculpting, showing they used the exact same mold for both lower bodies. They're definitely from the same manufacturer.

They are out now, actually. And the actual price, as seen on Warner Bros Home Entertainment's official store, is only $30. Anyone selling them for as much as you mentioned is just trying to rip you off for a profit. And they are just 7".

(Sorry, Quote is not working anymore. Am I the only one with this issue?)

Thanks for letting me know they are out already! I admit I didn't look too closely as it does not really fit into the money plans this month - just got the new "Arrow" figures. And sorry, it didn't came out quite right what I was trying to say. I meant, for me to be willing to pay 70+ GBP, it must be rather 12" size and real clothes which you can take off. But as they are 7", it should indeed be no more than 25-30 Dollars, which is the "Arrow" price as well - or the not so sought for "Star Trek" figures. I'm willing to do exceptions for rare and hard to get TOS figures (don't ask what I paid for some of them in their red TWOK uniforms), but not for ones that came out just right now.

You see that a lot lately, also with books or CDs on Amazon, which aren't even out yet, already being offered as "used" for a horrible price. Someone always is going to fall for it.

I'll look around where to find them for a reasonable price then. But as I said, with shipping of 30 Dollars from America, plus added taxes, it's not much better either.

And these are the two 7" Disneyland Indiana Jones(es) you are personally responsible for me buying Chris ;) It never occured to me to look for a larger scale. I have one (cheap) 3,5" Indy but he is just too small for my liking. Plus these come with a lot of accessories which I always like! Lots of things to play with.

Just showing this since we were recently talking about women figures expected to sell less.

This is Felicity from "Arrow" (and Diggle). Felicity is a computer genius among other things, other say a Mary Sue who can and knows everything. She has kinda taken over the show, getting from a guest appearance to well loved (by some fans) character, so I guess this is a safe bet for the producers. Still, when was the last time you got a figure of a secretary, so to speak?

I put her on the computers (from "Primeval") right away. Downside: She cannot sit down in that skirt.

I had the same issue earlier, but just this thread. I had to customize my quote tag myself. It's working fine now, though. Weird.

I'm planning to get some Arrow-verse figures myself, but I['m not really interested in Felicity or Diggle. I'm probably just going to get Arrow and Flash.

Working again, yay! Yesterday edit was not working either, but today it did. Weird.

I also saw a Steve Jobs figure somewhere I think... It's always interesting, the things you discover! (and while I do have an Obama figure, I can't see myself buying the Merkel Barbie)

The weirdest figure ever belongs to the "Doctor Who" line. There was Cassandra which basically was just a skin in a frame. And then they went and indeed sold Destroyed Cassandra, which was just the empty frame. Who would buy that?

Oooh, let me introduce you to the figures then. As there is not just THE Arrow. There are three already, with the option for more.

We have the Arrow from season 1, with the bow from season 1, plus make-up around the eyes. He came in a double pack with Deathstroke: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81fxm-GVlBL._SY355_.jpg

Then we got the Arrow from season 2, with the compound bow (the things you learn while watching TV) and a mask around the eyes. The rest of the body is the same: http://www.previewsworld.com/catalogimages/STK_IMAGES/STK640001-660000/STK658476.jpg

Already planned for next March is the Arrow from season 3, with slightly different costume: http://www.tvinsider.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Arrow_TV_10_Arrow_S3_AF.jpg

And with him changing costumes again in season 4, I can already see him on the horizon ;)

Oh, and then there is half-naked Oliver Queen, with scars and tattoes and everything: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71qoRUQHd3L._SL1500_.jpg

Aside from all these variants, we also have Malcolm Merlyn in the League of Assassins outfit (with a variant next year with the hood off so you can see John Barrowman's face), another Deathstroke (which I did not get as he was too colorful for my liking), Deadshot (which I love), Sara as Canary (Laurel will be out in March) and actually this month was also supposed to be Roy/Arsenal, not sure what happened to him.

I also only bought Flash so far, didn't really care for the bad guys, but I may get the Reverse Flash when he comes out. And I hope for a Cisco ;)

Ahem. So yeah, I'm kind of an expert. If you have any questions, you know whom to ask! Now if I only knew what happened to those awesome items we saw on display at Comic Con last year. I had hoped each figure would come with an accessoire to build the Arrow cave. But I guess as they are changing the cave each season as well, they couldn't keep up. It's a shame, I would have loved to have this:

Got the Hot Wheels X-Wing today. First Hot Wheels purchase that I've been completely disappointed with. The rest of the ships from Trek and Wars I've gotten have been pretty good quality.

I'm not even a massive Arrow fan, but I got the Deathstroke figure just because of how awesome he looks. Truly excellent figure with great detail!

There was a Playmates TNG Crusher variant (1940's) with the same problem. That was forever ago, you would think someone would have found a way to fix that by now, especially on a higher end figure.

CCC.
