The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

Hasbro is now accepting suggestions for its upcoming Fans' Choice Poll to pick a new 6" Star Wars figure. Go to any of the major collecting websites such as Jedi Temple Archives and Yakface and follow the instructions to submit your own idea for which character would make a good 6" figure.

I'd like to see them use actual metal parts again in Transformers. I purchased Grimlock and it was flimsy and I felt scared to even transform it.

All the Grimlocks have been pretty terrible (Energon, Classics, FOC, AOE, RID). If you bought one from the movie line, I pity you since Hasbro screwed that entire toy line. The only good Grimlock is the Masterpiece one or the animated one.

From what I've seen the Emperor's Royal Guard and the classic Sir Alec Guinness version of Obi-Wan Kenobi are leading the choices for the figures collectors would like to see Hasbro make in the 6-inch scale. I submitted my choice for Ponda Baba because a few others I'd also love to see had already been posted.

Movie version and it was shitty.

The box said something like 12 step transformation but it felt so weak I didn't bother. So sad that these things have gone to shit.

I'd hope that if they do make a 6" Jawa that they release two of them in the packaging (or at least include a Gonk/Power Droid or another kind of droid) if they're going to put a character that small in a box and charge more than $20 for him.

But yeah, I'd love to see a Jawa or two released in the 6" figure line.

I got my second (and last) Funko Marvel Collectors Corps package today- Ant-Man!

Four Bobbleheads, including an itty bitty one.

He's so little!

The package also came with a t-shirt, comic book, pin, and patch. I won't order another one until Captain America: Civil War comes out.

Also picked up this cute Funko key chain:

I've never seen that Ant-Man Pop! figure until now. Is that the new Paul Rudd movie version of Ant-Man that Funko is selling?

Yep! They're brand new and might not be in stores yet. This was a special offer from the Collectors Corps. The mask-less Scott may be an exclusive for subscribers.

Ant-Man's figure appears to have more than just basic sculpting and articulation. That's good to see. I was wondering how many of this year's Hasbro action figure lines would release little more than minimally-articulated characters with simple paint apps and it appears that both Age of Ultron and Ant-Man have some decent figures.

He looks pretty good! That's a nice score!

I love Jawas! I'd vote for two in a box of different heights I'd prefer that as opposed to having a droid included, that way I can have a tribe of jawas on my desk. One needs to have the droid stun gun.

In 2004 Hasbro released a two-pack of 12" Jawas that are two of the best Jawa toys I've ever seen. They have no soft goods fabric but the sculpting and attention to detail are fantastic, their bandoliers are separate pieces attached to their bodies instead of sculpted and molded as part of them and they each come with a different type of weapon (one regular blaster pistol, one ionizer to "stun" the droids). For 2004 they were amazing and even today they hold up and look great.

If a pair of 6" Jawas are even half as impressive as the much larger 2004 figures then I'd be plenty satisfied. They should take the Wave 8 Black Series Jawas, upscale those molds to the 6-inch scale and add more details and maybe some soft goods fabric.

I too have Ant-Man figures. These are the 6" scale Marvel Legends versions. Most of this wave is comic based, though.

Left to right: Bulldozer, Grim Reaper, Tiger Shark, Ant-Man (movie version), Ultron (movie version, and the Build-A-Figure for this wave), Wasp, and Giant Man.

The little ant along with mini Ant-Man and Yellowjacket are pack-ins for the movie figure. The ant really isn't in scale with anything, but oh well. I'm glad that even with this focus on what's at the movies, Hasbro is still giving us great comic book based figures of obscure characters. Bulldozer, Grim Reaper, and Tiger Shark are all characters we've never gotten before. There was a Wasp in the final wave of Toybiz's Marvel Legends, but we were desperately in need of an upgrade. Giant Man is a character we've had before, but never in this particular costume, and never normal sized.

If you want tiny figures, look at the Heroclix. I have 2 Antman, 3 Wasp, Yellowjacket 2 (Rita), 2 Atoms, and a custom made Shrinking Violet.

CCC.
