The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

The better value of the two current Deluxe 6" figures, for sure. At least the Biker Scout comes with a weapon and a Speeder Bike complete with a display stand. Jabba looks great, but the Biker Scout is just the better purchase and comes with far more plastic.

Definitely. I've seen both together at Target, and there really is no comparison.

Congrats! He looks great either inside or outside of the window box, doesn't he?
I hadn't yet taken him out of the box, but I just did. Looks great, a lot of detail. I noticed that when you move the rear flaps up, you can even see the detail of the thrusters underneath. I also like the scuff and dirt detail on the bike and the trooper. I have the old Power of the Force version of the Scout/bike, but I can't find it anywhere. It would be cool to have a side by side comparison. Heh, remember that bike's dumb "fall apart" feature?

BTW, I can't seem to get the bike to sit on the stand properly. Is the ball supposed to fit snug inside the socket, or do you just have to shift the figure around to get the center of balance in the right place?

ETA: Got it to balance on the stand, but even a gentle touch causes it to fall over. I just noticed however that it still looks good sitting on a flat surface without the stand.

Yeah, the stand isn't a perfect mechanism to display the Speeder Bike (especially with the figure's weight added into the mix), but if you adjust and play with the connection a little bit you should be able to get the Bike and the figure to sit on top of the stand.

You might want to lean part of it up against a flat surface if you're concerned about the Bike and figure falling off, but with enough practice they should be fine.

Spider-Woman joins the Shelf Avengers!

"Uh, hi, Jessica..." Oh, Clint. Hawkward! (another ex...)

All you need is a Mockingbird, and Clint's awkwardness will reach critical mass.

I'm looking for a Mockingbird! She was part of a West Coast Avengers set, so I hope to find a loose one on ebay.

I know that. I said so in my post.

Anyway, I just bought a loose Mockingbird from ebay! I'll have her in a week.

Damn, I wish there were figures of Sersi and Crystal. I still don't get why Crystal wasn't included with the Inhumans set!

Picked up half a dozen 3.75" Star Wars figures at my friend's toy shop. I saw a few others I would have liked to have but he and his business partner were asking just a bit too much for them and couldn't lower the prices right now.

Which Star Wars figures did you get?

Ak-Rev (2008, from the Return of the Jedi Special Edition)
Han Solo in Stormtrooper Disguise (2009 Legacy Collection)
Princess Leia (2000, Power of the Force 2 with raised hood and soft goods gown)
2 x CZ-4 protocol droids
Rebel Honor Guard (2007, from A New Hope)

Picked up quite a few figures in the sales over the holidays:

6 inch Star Wars speeder bike
6 inch Jabba
All the 6 inch Guardians of the Galaxy

That flash drive has surface details that even the best Hasbro action figures don't bother with.

For those of you who are unaware of my hobbies, one of them is to collect STAR WARS and STAR TREK action figures and other toys and has been for many years now. When I was a litte kid I collected most of the original STAR WARS action figures made by Kenner between 1978 and 1985 and still own them, and I started collecting the new Kenner/Hasbro figures starting in 1998. Over the past 13 or 14 years I've probably acquired well over 2,000 action figures of different sizes and from different lines. I've posted quite a few pics of my collection in the "Picture Post" thread in recent months and also have a Photobucket account full of snapshots of my stuff. In addition to all my STAR WARS stuff I also own a much, much smaller but nonetheless quality collection of STAR TREK figures, dolls and plastic and die-cast ships dating back to some of the classic Mego (TOS) dolls of the '70s and the 3-3/4" line of action figures from THE MOTION PICTURE that were in stores in 1979 and 1980.

I have a friend who is like this with comic books. The guy gets all the new releases every year and has a collection so big that his office is loaded with filing cabinets of nothing but comic books. He has number one of most of the marvel superheroes onscreen and can tell you how much each are worth.By the time he retires he'll be able to open his own comic book store that will be envy of geeks everywhere.

Does anyone else here collect action figures, toys, dolls, etc.? Feel free to discuss your hobby and post pictures of your stashes...I'd love to see what you guys and gals like to collect! Let's get this ball rolling! :techman:

No and I'm kicking myself for not saving those kenner star wars toys back in the early eighties. Those toys were so shitty compared to GI Joe: No joints, they were rarely able to stand up right and the lightsabers were flimsy wicks that looked more like sparklers. I love Star Wars but compared to GI Joe and He-man their toys were weak. I would have been better off leaving them in the packaging.

Also now that I think about it I never got any star trek figures. I don't even remember seeing them in stores.

^That's certainly a more palatable price. Paying the full $40 for Jabba has left me with some buyers remorse.

Here's the new Capullo series Commissioner Gordon. The essential Bat-family character finally gets the excellent figure that he deserves:

Amazon had the 6" Jabba for as little as $15 plus change around Christmas last week, but I can't imagine that special reduced price lasted very long. Now that's a price that's easy to swallow even when the big guy doesn't come with any accessories.

I once saw a special Black Series Jabba - with accessories - at the Garden State Comic Con last year. It was upwards of $100. but it came with Salacious Crumb, and other food, drink, and drug dispensers. I've only ever seen that one.

Just checked... it's still $15 on Amazon
