The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

I love the Lupin statues. That show is always good for making me smile.

I picked up Ultraman and Superwoman, so my New 52 Crime Syndicate is complete. These are the best figures that DCC has ever done (well, until Cappulo Batman and Nightwing come out.)

Left to right are Johnny Quick, Deathstorm, Atomica, Superwoman, Ultraman, Owlman, and Power Ring. They're the evil Earth 3 counterparts of the Flash, Firestorm, the Atom, Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, and Green Lantern respectively.

got Kamen Rider ZX Figuarts today. the scarf attachment nearly broke off while trying to attach it. still, a great figure.

(the Delorean, not the Obama mints, ok?)

I'll post a video of ED-209 later with a ruler and the sounds too.

^ Nice! No idea why it's red, though. I actually have a Hot Wheels BTTF Delorean sitting on my desk in front of me!

They actually offered the Delorean in colors towards the end. I worked at a car dealership in High School that had several in different colors. However the colors were never as bright as that Matchbox car, it was very light.

From what I've read, a few dealerships painted the cars in order to be distinctive, but it wasn't an option from DMC. It's not easy to get the paint to bond to stainless steel. The only option the DMC factory offered other than plain stainless steel was a few gold plated ones.

A red DeLorean?

Great Scott!

That's heavy!

Yeah, like you guys weren't thinking it, too. :p

I have some Princess Diana items on the way. One is a Danbury Mint porcelain doll that stands around 19 inches tall and has an approximately 5 foot train. I'll post some pictures of her when I get her. I'm really looking forward to seeing the train. I also bought some nude Franklin Mint vinyl dolls and will dress them in clothes I have. Plus I have the Danbury Mint 14 inch vinyl Princess Diana doll and many of her outfits. I need to redress her for display. Can't wait! :D

Oddly, the French version says 2.21 jiggawatts...
I was baffled the first time I saw BTTF in English.

Did they actually keep the mispronunciation in French? (For those who don't know, the script said 1.21 gigawatts, but Christopher Lloyd apparantly didn't know it was a real word and bungled the pronunciation. They just rolled with it for all three films, and IMO it adds to the charm immensely.)

^ The way he said it is actually a valid pronunciation, and was actually the US standard of pronouncing the giga- prefix. I imagine that it's been dying out quickly due to most people using the prefix in relation to computer hardware, and the hard "g" is pretty much exclusively used there.

Thanks to the BTTF trilogy I've been pronouncing "giga" as "jigga" since I was a kid, at least in my head and with a smile if not out loud. Pop culture not only sticks with a person, but can change how we as a society collectively view and refer to something.

Huh. Did not know that. I'd always heard that Lloyd just got it wrong.

(Growing up hearing "jiggawatt," I had, as a kid, assumed that the BTTF writers had – as clever sci-fi writers – made up a unit, much like Star Trek's "gigaquads" for measuring computer storage. I knew what a gigawatt was, but it had never even occurred to me that they were supposed to be the same thing. It was slightly disillusioning when I got older to find out that was the case.)
