The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

Update:

If any poster in the thread is still looking for more figures from last year's Vintage Collection Darth Malgus wave assortment I suggest checking your local Toys 'R' Us store(s) right about now. Store reports are starting to come in fast and furious regarding the Malgus wave surfacing on TRU pegs in greater numbers than ever before, so if you've been wanting one or more of the five (then) new figures in that wave stop by a TRU and see what's dangling from the pegs.

As a reminder, the following new figures were in this wave:

Anakin Skywalker (realistic Clone Wars sculpt, VC92)
Darth Vader (A New Hope, VC93)
Imperial Navy Commander (VC94)
Luke Skywalker (Hoth Gear, VC95)
Darth Malgus (VC96)

Remember: this wave assortment contains just one of each new figure. The other seven figures in the case of 12 are carry forwards from the dreaded, pegwarming Episode I wave that hit before it. Four of the five new figures were later repacked in future case assortments that shipped later in 2012 (all except the Imperial Navy Commander).

Should Servo be made from spare parts rather than bought? ;)

There's definitely some irony, there!

But with my pathetic skills, I doubt whatever I attempted could have been mistaken for Tom. At best I might have concocted a "Toby Torque-shaft" or a "Sammy Solinoid". :wtf:

Though I have envisioned a MSTie inspired Kinoshita design, a "costume/prop" built from assorted parts paying tribute to Robby the Robot and B9 of Lost in Space. Wouldn't be able to get a guy like that into a theater seat, though!

Sincerely,

Bill

Just received the Playmates Version of Lt. Sulu from Where No Man Has Gone Before"
Here he is next to his Big Brother from AA/DST

I recently saw the "WNMHGB" Scotty figure in the sand-colored Starfleet shirt at my friend's toy shop. I've never seen the Pilot version of Sulu anywhere except in photos posted online.

They look great. Naturally the AA/DST Sulu is much, much more realistic and better looking. They did a wonderful job with George Takei's little cowlick from that episode.

I can confirm this. I saw this wave on TRU pegs today.

I also saw the two DC Unlimited pegs completely full of the ugly as hell Injustice Batman, and no sign at all of the New52 Wonder Woman that is supposed to be in the same wave. If Mattel is sending out Injustice Batman only cases, then they've as good as killed the line already. Collectors have no interest in these awful redesigns from a game that we don't even know is going to be any good.

Yes. The Star Wars part. ;)

I'm sorry about the second half of your post. Mattel doesn't know what the hell it's doing, but what's new.

I went ahead and ordered the Lego Black Widow- the loose figures are getting rare. Didn't want to pay any more than I did! Hawkeye cost half as much. So next week, the little "family" will be complete!

Now I have to make my Avengers Cinco De Mayo party plans...

If this is open to any kind of toy collecting, then I'm proud to say that these beauties are – finally, after a month of waiting – in the mail and on their way to me.

And they're a lot bigger than they look - Celestia there on the right is nearly three feet tall including the horn.

:D :adore:

That photo contains well above the recommended daily allowance of Win. Must....not....stare continuously!

It'll be interesting to see what happens when Character Options/Underground Toys switches to the 3.75-inch scale. Some classic Doctor Who figures were never released in the 5-inch scale...

I think only new series stuff is switching. Last I heard Classic Who was staying at 5-inch.
