The absolute worst film you've ever seen

Slaughtered Vomit Dolls (2006)- unfortunately I remember more about this one... and at one hour and 11 minutes it's short, but not short enough. I want that 71 minutes of my life back.
Can you really reclaim that 71 minutes if you voluntarily watched a movie called "Slaughtered Vomit Dolls" though? I mean, the title kind of says it all, doesn't it? I think this one is on you. ;)

is there a formula as to how runtime affects badness? when there's 2 bad films, and one of them is 20% better, but also 20% longer... which one is worse? because I want to change my vote to Titanic. you sit there in the stupid cinema with your girlfriend and 3 hours later the damn thing still isnt sunk and you just want to die :/.

The whole cinematic experience counts, for sure... ;)

Well, its hard to pick one. Do I go with a movie I knew was terrible, but watched out of morbid curiosity? If so, then the religious propaganda piece God's Not Dead would be the worst film I've seen, mostly for being a really nasty pile of shit (that would be laughable if I didn't know everyone involved believed the shit they were spouting, which is what really brings this movie down from terrible to the worst). There is also Catwoman, which I also went into knowing it was crap (but its still better then GnD).

There are also some real awful comedies, like Meet the Spartans, and I was young enough when I first saw it that I thought it might be good (teenage me thought that stuff like Family Guy Scary Movie was funny, I had shit taste), but in retrospect its one of those "2 of the 6 producers of scary movie" movies and they're all obvious shit to anyone who isn't a doofus, and it was the movie that made me realize that I couldn't stand that style of humor anymore (I was 18 when it came out).

In the end, when it comes to movies I didn't know would be bad before seeing them, there is an "unholy trinity" to go for the worst:

Goodburger, which I didn't choose to watch, knew nothing about before seeing it, and absolutely hated it.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, because the first Transformers movie wasn't that bad so when the sequel came out no one was really aware of how bad it would get.

Southland Tales is the most incoherent pile of shit I've ever seen. Not even the Rock, Buffy and the Highlander could save this pretentious, nonsense garbage.

So, basically, the worst movie I've ever seen is God's Not Dead, but the worst movie I saw without knowing it was going to be awful is a tie between those three.

New contender for me. Thankfully it was cheap night at the theatre, so only $5. Movie was 'Sorry to Bother You', about a telemarketer who finds the magical key to success. Well, it starts out harmlessly enough. Guy gets a job as a telemarketer and quickly makes friends with some of the people there. Then they eventually get fed up with management and go on strike. Our guy is all part of this until he's promoted to the higher level to which they all aspire to. He's so good at his job, the boss of the parent company notices this and invites him to a party where said boss reveals what his plans are for the company: He's breeding horsepeople to have his company become more efficient. Yes, uhuh, horsepeople. Things start to go in a really weird direction. Eventually these horsepeople rebel against the company and help out the union. A very weird nonsensical movie that feels like writers threw anything they found slightly amusing into a blender. It was also supposed to be a comedy but I didn't laugh once.

What?

Battleship was a lot of fun! And it had Rihanna in it.

What more could you want?

;)
Sense, excitement, smarter aliens and screenwriters with at least a passing understanding of how US Navy warships actually work.

And Liam Neeson. Yeah. Great view of him standing on the deck of the carrier screaming "I want every plane off this deck, right now!" Yeah, sure, Admiral, and we could do that if you'd get off the fucking flight deck and out of the airplanes' way!

That movie made my gut twist, and I left with a headache from all the forehead slapping I did.

And yet, I do not name it the worst I've ever seen. That honor goes to this utter turd of a movie called The Warriors, probably the dumbest depiction of New York street gangs since the Sharks and Jets pirouetted around like idiots in West Side Story.

"Warriorrrrs! Come out and play-eee-eee!"

:brickwall:

I liked The Warriors. I played the Playstation 2 game which expanded the story before I saw the movie so that may have helped.

Yeah, a lot of people tell me they liked The Warriors. I'll take your word for why because otherwise I have no clue what people see in the film.

Well, step one to enjoying The Warriors is not to think of it as a depiction of New York City street gangs. It's roughly like a stylish comic book version of street gangs inhabiting some dystopian quasi-post-apocalyptic alternate reality, with just enough points of contact with the real world to keep the stakes relatable.

But if those points of contact with reality are New York City and street gangs, what the hell else am I supposed to think??

While far from the worst film, I think still an honorable mention to Lost in Space 1998 for being maybe the dumbest film I've seen.
