True but do you Commodore Stockwell in Deadly Years he takes command of the Enterprise and go into the Romulan neutral zone and all most get the Enterprise destroyed but Dr. McCoy and Dr. Lester found a cure in time and Captain Kirk save his ship. The Commodore had to admit that he was not able to command a starship but that had not stop him from not listing to Sulu objection of the course.

He was a flag officer and a base commander. So he had skills, just not ship based ones. He wasn't keen on taking command though.

Mainly because *I* have to do this, also, because I've been putting off getting my glasses prescription updated, and it definitely works.
