The 3rd act of many Star Trek Discovery episodes

Gotta be honest, I've never had a clue about what constitutes the 2nd, 3rd, 4th acts of anything. i know the first act and the last, that's it.
I think in TV scripts, the "acts" are the parts between the commercial breaks.

I could not stop cringing when Burnham and Captain Philippa got into a fight with a lot of punches and kicks in season 2 episode 7? I think. it almost felt as if I was watching black widow in an mcu movie.
I see where you're coming from but Michelle Yeoh is a martial arts film star, the moment she gets involved you just know there's going to be at least one good fight scene.

No Trek show is worst than "Voyager" with the need to have a pointless space battle tossed in each week which of course was about as exciting as watching cement dry. The aliens were always overly hostile for no reason and the action was just the crew spouting the standard technobabble. For me I think "Discovery" is at it's best during action stuff because IMO the drama tends to be more melodrama and Burnham has the sense of humor of a Tibetan monk trying to do HBO comedy special.

Eh, Voyager had some great moments.

But it also had a lot of crap moments and honestly I enjoyed Discovery a lot more myself.

I tend to like "Voyager" as well despite it's flaws. I think I like it better than "Discovery" because like with "Discovery" I like the cast for the most part even if the stories aren't so great. Especially Tilly and Stamets. I give the advantage to "Voyager" though because I really like Janeway. Only reason she isn't Trek's third greatest captain behind Kirk and Picard is the writing. On the other hand Burnham I feel was a flawed character from the start going with the stoic Vulcan background and then not really getting a actor that is good enough to really carry a serious. The knowledge that they wanted Rosario Dawson who would have been awesome does not help either when you can only think about what might have been or even what might have been if Fuller had been able to do his show.

I'm still waiting for Discovery to have a great episode. That episode that makes me go "WOW!" or "Holy Shit!" or "Can't wait to see where they are heading with this!" It has been consistently mediocre for me. Not much of it is "terrible", but nearly all of it is forgettable.
