The 24 hour wait SUCKS

Just felt like starting a thread to moan about having to wait 24 hours for the newest Trek episodes outside the US. All these threads pop up and you wanna click... but doing so is a very bad idea. And then there's Facebook with random screengrabs doing their best to spoil and you've gotta scroll like an MF'er to get past before any of it sinks in.

Woe is us, online Trekkies outside the US.

A five-day wait* sucks more.

* I'm intentionally waiting until Tuesdays to watch every new episode of DSC because doing so works better for me using various different TV-related podcasts as entertainment while I'm at work (I'm a custodian and can therefore listen to podcasts or music while working).

I used to feel this way about new Doctor Who arriving to my local PBS in the late 1980's. Except for the Facebook and clicking stuff because it didn't exist then.

Does anyone remember when it took literal YEARS for a new season of a show to be aired outside the US? And if you couldn’t watch a new episode when it finally did air AND you were REALLY unlucky your VHS player failed to record for whatever reason and yup, there went your chance to see the episode...

I feel old again.

Just sitting here waiting for Mandalorian to drop in 12 hours............

Sincerely emphasize with those who have to wait for new Trek. It sucks.

Also, I'm a US citizen of nearly 50 years.
It's been a roller coaster of Crazy, especially right now.
You're better off.

It does suck. I still haven’t seen the new ep, and won’t until this evening, by which time the episode discussion thread will be 89 pages long and have long since derailed into weird tangents. But, as noted above, it sure beats the 90’s where the Uk was years behind the US and if you wanted to keep up you had to spend £12 on CIC videos that only contained two episodes in potato quality. Can’t complain really

I'm amazed that you're quibbling about mere 24 hour waits after months of Covid lockdowns.
Well, in COVID lockdowns the need for entertainment is great, right?

I can appreciate the frustration but I have such a weird, laid back attitude, towards shows that I probably am not the most sympathetic person. I'll watch a show when I get to it. NBD, by my calculations.

Mileage, etc.

To be fair, when it was years till international release, the world was not ruled by a globe spanning spoiler network.
On the other hand, now we get our ‘tainment food I dubbed and add free for the price of a Starbucks coffee for a whole month.

However still waiting for Lower Decks, a month after it finished, does.

Was'nt their explenaiton that it had to be released earlier than planned and cause of corona they couldnt negotiate that fast with the streaming services?
That would mean it should air outside of north america after discovery, cause it was planned to air by then anyways

It's certainly much much better than it was back in the day of Berman era Trek. We'd wait months or years, for it to air, often only on paid satellite.

I can handle the next day.

Having said that, yes it's annoying!

Yeah, the international distribution was not in place for when Lower Decks dropped early. Apparently that deal was not negotiated well for unknown reasons.

This!
The worst about is that i don't dare to ask questions in the thread because somebody else could already have asked them
I would just ask. I hang on various Trek formats and people still ask "How do I get in to Trek?"

If I can handle that question I'll handle any other questions. Trust me.
