The 20s club

Robert DeSoto

Lieutenant Commander
Seeing as how theres a 40s club thats out there representin, us 20 year olds should have a thread of our own haha

So wheres my 20 somethings at? Holla! Cuz these are the best years of our life.

Why?

You're probably in school. Exams are a bitch, but you ain't got a manager to report to (well, except for your part time job). You can get drunk and skip class the next day. Or show up hungover. It's all good

Maybe you're done school and just starting your career. Promotions are quick and easy in the early years. Still not that much responsibility yet. Only thing is you can't get drunk and skip work lol

You're probably not married yet. So you can go drinking and partying with different girls every week. No obligations.

Most of you don't have kids. You ain't staying at home changing diapers on Saturday night. You're at the club, popping bottles with your boys and bunch of hot, drunken girls

No kids means no minivan yet. So its all about the two door sport coupes with the stick shift

You don't give a shit what your clothes cost. As long as you look fly.

You still got your hair lol and its always gelled, maybe dyed.

So far no major health problems yet. You can play sports, go the gym, get into fights, eat junk food, smoke, drink, blaze, pop E, party or study all night and your body won't give up on you

You ain't got a mortgage or property tax to worry about. So you have the money for nice clothes, sports cars, clubbing, bars and dinners with different girls.

You started watching Trek with TNG or later, but you still got love for TOS. Cuz u kno Captain Kirk is gangster and a player haha

You know Drake, Lil Wayne, Kayne West, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj. And old school for us means, 2pac and Biggie Smalls

The 40s something got their classic cartoons. We got The Simpsons and Family Guy.

This thread not meant to disrespect our older and wiser friends in the 40s club. We know they've been here and done this too. And we will all become one with the over 40s club in due time. But in the meantime we gotta enjoy ourselves.

So all the 20 somethings stand up and tell me what you love about being in the 20s club

I just went out drinking until 3am, and I'll be totally fine when I go to work in the morning.

Just turned 29... still got one more year left in the 20s club. Working full-time, going to grad school part-time, staying busy and active with no problem. Got a mortgage though, and can't be irresponsible with money... not a big party guy or much of a drinker, either. I'm a rather boring 20-something to be honest LOL

I hate clubs, I'm back in school, we have a mortgage and we are thinking about starting a family. Also we have a cat and my husband wants another one.

I like the age I'm at. Some idea of responsibility so I'm not being a total idiot, but getting to live life the way I want to and having the means to do so.

I'm 26, have a job but it's on-call and looking for something that's more in my field. Not back in school but have been thinking about taking a class. However, that class is never offered and I can't find anything interesting to take and I haven't really thought about Grad School (Graduated in 2008). As for parties, drinking and that stuff, I'm not really into that, mainly because I'm usually never invited. Don't have that many friends anyway, even though it's something I'm trying to work on. Despite that disappointing fact, I like my life, not feeling really down about it, and trying to be as successful as I can be.

Oops. I thought this was a Roaring 20s club. I was expecting Jazz and Flappers. 23 Skidoo! :D

I'm 24, but the descriptions in your OP are about as far off as I can imagine. I guess being able to go out partying, have a nice car, and not care about how much your clothes cost all assume you have a great job or rich parents. Most of the 20 somethings I know are barely struggling to pay rent! I myself am currently unemployed after finishing grad school and internships. I am very happy to be done with school though - I loved school very much but I was ready to move on with my life.

So basically I spend my days at home searching for jobs, crocheting, and watching Dr. Phil. When I was in school I didn't have the time to go out and party (not that I like to anyway) and now that I've graduated I don't have the money.

Oh and those rappers suck ass. It's all about No Doubt, Foo Fighters, and The Used!

Let's see, I'm 29 - it's quite frightening to be near the big 3-0. I went out for a few drinks last night and cannot drink anywhere near as much as I could a few years ago - two glasses of wine is enough to cause a mild hangover. If this carries on, I will be teetotal by 35 ...

But .... despite starting what I want to do slightly later than some, and flunking out of one degree, I now have two, a PhD which I'm ploughing through, and am in academia - a long way to go, but I'm far, far happier than I ever was a few years ago.

Oh. And I'm so old apparently, that my younger siblings have not even heard of VOY / DS9 ... more recently, I had to explain to my brother what the X-Files was ....

I'm 23. I'm dead broke, so I can't do much except hang around the house, which I prefer anyway. I'm about to graduate, and hope I can find some kind of adult employment. Getting sick of struggling to pay the bills every month.

other than that, I live with my girlfriend.Nothing exciting, but my life is okay.

I'm 25 and married with a house, a cat, and an M.A. that has yet to aid me in finding a job. No plans for kids, though all my friends are having them like it's going out of style. Rather than going to da club, I am spending my Saturday evening on internet forums.

Not sure if I'm ahead of the game or behind it. I'm at least going to have myself a drink tonight, dammit. :D

Re: classic cartoons. As a 90's kid, I was all about Darkwing Duck, Batman: The Animated Series (favorite show of all time), Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers, Tiny Toons, and Animaniacs. Among others, of course. The 20s set has some awesome cartoons to call their own!

We were so fortunate to have some great kid shows growing up weren't we? Not only the ones you mentioned, but we also had X-Men (The Animated Series), Doug, Rocko's Modern Life, a little show I loved called Hystaria!, and so many other funny and awesome shows. The cartoons now (And as a disclaimer I don't watch them since they don't look appealing) don't measure up to the ones we had in the late 80's/90's.

^I catch 'Invader Zim' on cable from time to time on weekend afternoons. That kind of "your kids are only getting half the jokes we're pitching at you" satire it has is the closest to what I remember growing up with. However, you're right on with the superhero toons. I had X-Men and the incredible animated Batman series. Mark Hamil was a great Joker. I catch the occasion rehash of those late night, and meh...

Sidenote, Doug was/is terrible. It was never funny. It was the cartoon I sat through because it was between 2 good ones.

Oh, 25, starting grad school in January, but drinking tonight. Currently available, ladies. PM me ;)

X-Files, I agree, but there are many people our age who have never heard of Voyager and DS9.
