The 20 Worst Toy Makeovers

Anime Care Bears...horrifying...But that's not quite as horrifying as when they turned the Care Bears Captain Planet... I still remember the ad... "Cheer Bear keeps the water clean!" What the heck was that?!! :wtf:

what ever happened to Mighty Max? it was the boy's version of polly pocket and they were awesome, i had like a dozen little max sets and they all had secret chambers and little moveable things, and when folded up they looked like cool things like a coiled up snake, the cartoon even rocked, now....nothing

Man, those old tonka trucks were awesome. Those and those toy John Deere tractors we got that the John Deere house.

I for one am glad about some of the updates. My old Star Wars figures sucked, with virtually no articulation and awful facial reproduction. I wish I was a kid right now so I could play with some of the cool stuff they have out now..

I'm 40 years old, and I still collect Star Wars action figures, as well as DC Direct, G.I. Joe, and Barbie (the theme ones), as do a lot of adult SF/F fans. If we can collect action figures, so can you. Don't let adulthood rob you of the privilege that most SF/F fans take for granted-go ahead and do it!:)

EDIT: Here's my acquaintance John's collection of Japanese SF toys (Gundam, Gatchaman, & Macross/Robotech) ;

I'm irritated to see that Lincoln logs come with figures now, though that is mostly jealousy. And I'm disappointed to see Tonka trucks made of wussy plastic rather than heavy, dangerous metal. And Monopoly has had like a hundred variations over the years, so that's no big surprise.

Something that should be on the list, but is not, is how Hasbro has utterly ruined Clue. And they DO NOT have an "original" version still available.

That is stupid. I guess children today have no love of Agatha Christie style murder mystery, and are far too stupid to figure out how to bludgeon one with a lead pipe. I love how they changed the rules to allow suicides. Funny.

"Jack Mustard, who was too much of a pussy for military service, committed suicide...
in the spa...
with his mom's valium prescription."

Dun dun duuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnn!!!!!

Since I have a copy of Clue, it doesn't really bother me, but I hope they return with the original version. There's beauty in simplicity. If they want to redo clue, they have to use a new name.

I have a Clue "Master Detective" edition. Same basic game only it has more weapons, rooms and characters.
