That which cannot be explained

Why do the arboretum windows on the E-D glow blue.

or why are there no escape pod hatches on the E-Refit even though Saavik orders the crew to abandon ship in the Kobayashi Maru training simulation in TWoK.

or what happened to the Aeroshuttle under the Voyager's primary hull. Why wasn't it use?

a) Maybe the bluish glow is the result of some sort of polarizing filter on the windows. Probably looks okay from the inside, but from outisde you get that blue color. Notice that the same color shows up on the arboretum windows of the TMP Enterprise refit as well.

b) The lifeboats are under blow-away protective hull plates and can't be seen under normal conditions.

c) The production staff didn't have the budget to show us the aeroshuttle. Same reaosn we didn't see the E-D's captain's yacht either.

Well, they had the budget for the Delta Flyer, but not he aeroshuttle? I think it's easier just to assume that it was never actually installed (otherwise it would have made sense to use it).

Or Picard would give one of his speeches in front of her or Worf, constantly talking about 'humanity'... i think he's a latent racist :)

Constantly! "We were once like you (you primitive idiot savages), and then we lahned to be perfect like we are now, so much better than you are blah blah"

Just started watching TNG in order and its bugging me already.

Well, they had the budget for the Delta Flyer, but not he aeroshuttle?
Well, the advent of (relatively) cheap CGI changed everything. That's why, for example, we are able to see massive armadas of starships in DS9, while TNG had to settle with a few isolated model shots during The Best of Both Worlds.

Well, why should we take her word, then? Liar and traitor. Case closed.

Why would she lie about something that could easily be proven a lie by anyone with knowledge of Klingon physiology? :)

But, at that point, the Enterprise crew didn't seem to be that in the know about Klingon physiology. Even Dr. McCoy elsewhere in the movie was stumped. And since we've seen Klingons elsewhere crying, she's obviously wrong.
Plus, Valeris was part of a group that believed the Federation should never have peace with the Klingons. She's probably racist against Klingons, and not above repeating rumors she has heard of their physiology. "Klingons are physically incapable of crying" sounds very much like a slur to me.

Why does the United Federation of Planets have 90% human officers in Starfleet with a token %10 being Bolian/Vulcan?

Why is Troi the only Betazoid who speaks with an accent?
Neither of her parents have that accent, no other on-screen Betazoids either.

There's the Enterprise being able to reach the edge of the galaxy in Where No Man Has Gone Before, whereas later series stated that it takes decades for a ship to travel such vast distances even at maximum warp.

As for the whole question of Klingons crying or not, my personal preference is to just ignore that small scene in TUC where Spock says it. It was only in the director's cut of the film anyway, and so is of ambiguous canonicity. At the same time though, I accept the extra scenes with Colonel West as having actually happened, but I am picky that way.

Sigh, back when ships had shields . . .
You mean you actually think it was more realistic to have 5 starships taking on the Borg and that they shouldn't have shown an armada of ships in DS9? Interesting.

Just because the Federation has a good defensive technology like shields doesn't mean that they aren't still going to need alot of ships and alot of firepower when they go to war. They were up against the combined forces of the Cardassians, the Dominion and (later) the Breen. The Cardassians have both offensive and defensive technology that is more or less on par with the Federation. The Dominion and the Breen both have somewhat superior technology. Shields are not going to eliminate the necessity for alot of ships.

What about the doors that open when you walk up to them, except when people stop
for dramatic pause or something and they stay shut?

^ Ha! I have thought about that too!!!

My memory is hazy but in the first episode of DS9, O'Brien has to use the Cardassian transporter to do something at a critical time. He can't figure out how to work the alien technology. After fumbling for few seconds he gets very frustrated an kicks the control panel with his foot! As soon as he kicks the thing, the transporter kicks in and starts working! (I am a computer tech and it rarely works that way, in fact the bosses frown when you attempt the O'Brien Maneuver.)

I am a network administrator, myself. In fact, I'm sitting in a data center right now waiting for files to copy. And I can attest to the fact that while it may not often work that way, I often want to try that approach. :)

I once had a TV that required a strong whack every now and then to keep the picture straight.
Mechanical objects respond a lot better to it than programs. For example, the fan on my old computer often got out of balance, but could be "fixed" with a slap to the case. Software issues, on the other hand, routinely fail to respond to even the most mindless violence. :(
