That is IT! I'm DONE. I will NOT see this movie!

There's no cinema in Corby, I think, only in Kettering, and I DON'T HAVE A CAR!
:guffaw:the Oden in Kettring isnt to bad, as I remeber it.

Just you laugh at my misfortune!

You warned me though, I remember.... I'd only been to Corby to visit some mates before, but working here and living in Gretton, man, that's a tough one.

I'll check out the cinema in Kettering then, if I manage to get there that is....

Well, you'd be correct. Train service in England in general is pretty bad, to say the least. Trains will stop if there are leaves on the tracks, and don't even get me started on snow.

It's all very well down south, but here, in the wild west part of the country.... well, there's a reason people point at me and laugh when I say I don't have a driving license.

You should come and visit someday! :)

I have no interest in this movie.................

except seeing the trailer on Nov 14, seeing the trailer online many times after that, seeing any subseqent trailers, seeing the movie on opening day, then a few times after that, then buying the Blu-ray the day it comes out. Other than that I don't give a damn and Paramount can go to hell.

You'd just love the train service here; admittedly, it's better than it was for a while, but still mostly nonexistent.

It certainly won't be right away, but I'd like to get over there again. There's a lot I didn't get to see the first time (and a lot of nice bitter to sample. :D )

are there no buses between Corby & Kettering, not lived there for almost 10 years now, so anything I know about its bus service (which is nothing) doesn't count anymore, but I remeber it having buses.

Sure, but I don't live in Corby, only work there. I actually live in Gretton, that's a little village a few miles beyond the Rockingham race thingy, and catching a bus to Gretton that coincides with my working hours is virtually impossible- not to mention the 25-minute-walk to the station.....

So if I want to get from Gretton to Kettering, I need to take two buses just to reach the town centre, and then take one to Kettering. So your memory is correct, there are buses going from Corby to Kettering, but it's damn difficult and the last one leaves at 6pm I think it was. I wouldn't be able to get back home.

M'Sharak: You should definitely come. In Gretton, we have 4 pubs but not one decent shop (talk about a day trip to asda)..... your kind of village? :)

Anyway, I don't think I'll be seeing the Trek trailer at the cinema, unless I get someone to drive me to Kettering, that is..... *sigh*

yes I can see why that is a problem for you.

To tell you the truth, I don't mind walking, actually I enjoy it, but beyond the Rockingham Speedway, there's no paths or street lights, so I'd walk on that really narrow, windy road. You don't even have grass ledges there, and I'm not willing to risk my life like that. So it's either having someone drive me, waiting for the bus or catching a taxi.

But I think I'm gonna check out the buses going to Kettering. They've got nice pubs there! (well, if I'm going to the pub I'm not going alone anyway)

do all Corby kids still call Kettering people sheep shaggers?

Oh yes they do indeed, I suppose that joke (unfunny as it is and incomprehensible to me) never gets old.

I find people in Corby don't really have a clue about whatever goes on in the rest of the country. I get asked if I'm Australian all the time, so does my friend Martin, and he's from Kent. Go figure.

We have a Rockingham Speedway here in North Carolina, USA as well. Ours is for race cars.

Yep, there's the Rockingham Speedway when you leave Coby (industrial estates)- if you turn right at Phoenix Parkway opp Rockingham Speedway (north-east), you'll find yourself on the road to Gretton.

This race thing didn't attract as many people as the guys who built it in the first place thought it would. Honestly, I couldn't care less, but it's one more of those "we used to have that in Corby, but it's all gone to shit" stories. Just like the steel industry. I hope the automotive one stays alive, given my current occupation.

But is the Rockingham Speedway in the US close to a village called Rockingham, too? I thought that was why they called it that.... they have a lovely pub there. :)

suddenly I am having flashbacks to my "History of Corby" lessons at Danesholme Junior School

nice to see hear things haven't changed since I left, that said I heard you guys burnt down the Safeway supermarket, I assume that was rebuilt as a Morrisions.

Hey, I'm not one of them, they still think I'm Australian. Besides, I only go to Asda and Aldi, anyways...*grins*.

That Safeway incident happened before my time here, I would like to point out. By the way I love the local slang- "yous" as a plural for "you". I'm not kidding, I've actually heard people say that.

It is near the city of Rockingham, North Carolina. You can see the Speedway here, about 5 miles/10 Km to the east of the city center. Not sure about pubs there, but I think they've got a cinema.

thankfully I lived in the Great Oakely area, the nicer part of Corby, and I left before to much damage was done to my vocabulary (my parents both being from Leicestershire) dont forget alot of them have Scottish routes.

I recall the ASDA there, quite big if I remeber it rightly.
